I have just bought a N7610 from Orange. All my previous phones have been with the original software, but this one contains some extra and maybe some omissions:
Should Opera be pre-installed on the phone?
Can I reset it back to the factory setup, and remove all Orange software?
I'm trying to transfer all of my contacts from a N3650 to the N7610.. is there a simple way to do this? I have a 3650 IR link to a laptop and a 7610 USB cable link to same laptop.

i havent heard of a person yet who hasnt got opera installed on his 7610. yes u can remove the applications by formatting, restoring original factory settings or removing them from tools>manager and then remove.. maybe u can use the pc suite to transfer contacts. perhaps create a backup file from the 3650 and then put that file on the 7610? download the latest pc suite from www.nokia.com

I have called my supplier (Orange UK) and they said they don't support Opera! So it seems as if they remove it from the MMC. Back to the shop tomorrow....I will try and get the phone from someone else.
Yea, I am on Orange I have moaned a few times throughout this forum that the opera browser is removed. They are idiots, idiots I tell you!

Thanks, it's nice to have it confirmed that they removed it rather than me messing up the phone.
Some questions....
Have you tried to do a factory reset *#07030# or whatever to remove all Orange software and bring back Opera.
If so, does it work, or does that only restore what you bought from Orange?
As they took it off the phone... did they put something else on it that others don't have?

Opera is installed on the mmc. The registration code is based on the EMIE No. A format will not help restore it, you will be back to square A - Orange only. I think Orange does not like Opera since it allows additional browsing capabilities through wap.
Check what other software you have that Orange gave you. If you want Netfront is also a good browser at only $12 euro, if you do not want to bother to return.
The orange world thing will come back I think if you format, its part of the Orange Firmware.
The trouble with the Orange world browser thing is that its crap cos any web site with frames and you are stuffed.
Where as Opera handles frames.

Yeah, and Netfront doesn�t support Frames either - just so you are warned.
Frames are bad. Complain to the web designer of the site that you want to see. There's no excuse for frames in this day and age...
