unwanted sounds

hi everybody
does anyone know how to disable the terrible startup sounds of the a1000. the 3g call center told me that they don't know how to do it because they are firmware settings. I also couldn't find any way to set a silent alert for the incoming sms. can anyone help me :con?

For a silent sms incoming tone, i would install a seconds worth of silence as an mp3. record a second of silence using sound recorder (if you use windows) and save as mp3. Transfer that over to your A1000 and install it as a ringtune. then use that ringtune in messeging preferences as your sms tune.

As for the disco three video doojit on startup, it'll be in a hidden folder (A:\System\Data 😉 ) which you can see using a program like sman and then any deletion / modification is your perogative!

Good luck!

Mitch

actually I did what you recommended with the silence mp3 file, I transferred the file into a folder (system) of the phone's main directory but it does not appear on the list of available tunes in the incoming sms/calls settings. It is also impossible to find the original list of available melodies among the phone's directories, as if it was hidden in the firmware. do I need some specific software to embed the file in the list?
as far as the startup sounds, I'm going to try with sman, though the motorola service told me to be very careful because the phone could be damaged PERMANENTLY. I' m quite a newbie, don't know how much should be afraid of this. do you agree with them?
thank you so much!!!

Well, most things can be done with this phone, but everything has to be done exactly right. So put the soundclip in the "unfiled" or the simply create a folder (Ringtunes ex.)...all under "media files/audio/unfiled" ...then simply install as ordinary ringtune under controlpanel - General - Ringtune manager and ...wola ^^

FOr the logo starup...i like a easy way out to =) .. but being on A: it is not possible as that disc is write protected and can not be touched. You need a File browser prg like "File man" so see hidden files and to system brows your phone.

sMan is streets ahead of fileman, and changing the contents of your A: drive can only be done by modifying the flex.

Very intresting, i use File man and and Task man...basicly because they came with Tracker (Must have =). Okay, you can change the 3:intro by doing what?, plz mail me or link, or simply explain how to do it! I would love it and angels will sing for you when you get to heaven ^^
