Anybody know what CPU the N-3230 will have?
The N-6630 is nicely equipped with a 220Mhz ARM CPU,
I doubt the N-3230 willl have this, but it is allowed to
hope! 😊
Given the features with embedded Stereo Mp3 player,
Radio, and Edge GPRS I would hope for this baby
to be given some more CPU power than the previous
Nokia models with only 104/120Mhz..
Who says it has stereo Mp3?

Anyway, I guess we'll have to wait until someone exactly gets one before we know the CPU speed

If you read my post in the above thread you are refering to, you see that
Nokia have confirmed to me that the 3230 will have stereo MP3.
Yes, but other sources say it doesn't. Nokia could have easily made a mistake.
I'm pretty sceptical until it's released/reviewed by someone...
Nokia could have... made a mistake??? I doubt they would incorrectly spec out their own phone. I guess it could happen, there are some stupid people in the world, but I'd doubt it.
It sells with the stereo headset and Nokia claims that it is stereo, so I'm assuming it is.
I would be very surprised if the processor was anything but the same 220 mhz processor in the 6630. Why would they downgrade the processor for their newest smartphone? I know it's cheaper, but I'd attribute that to the tech. depreciation (price decrease of technology), GSM instead of CDMA, and more limited EDGE.
They would downgrade it because the 3230 is aimed at a very different user group and sold for a very different price. So it's not inconceivable to think that it will actually have a lower cpu speed.
About the mono/stereo thing: their specs only say the FM radio is stereo. Same goes for the 6260. It also comes with a stereo headset and stereo fm radio, but mp3 is mono

I did NOT ask Nokia anything about FM-stereo, only MP3-stereo, in which they replied YES!
With regards to CPU power I don't believe it is viable to assume "professionals" (6630) are in greater need of CPU power than the younger "entertainer" (3230), rather the opposite!! Both phones (6630 and 3230) have 1.3Mpx Camera, both are to have stereo MP-3, and the 3230 in addition have FM-radio. Youths will use the phone to more multimedia-demanding tasks, such as gaming, multitasking, hard-core use of MP3 and video (DivX / Smartmovie), so I would be suprised if the 3230 has a lower CPU than the 6630, but again with Nokia, they are not always thinking logic and rationalily!
Let's pray!! 😊
I think such a high speed processor (220 MHz) is especially intended for 3G concepts (intended for applications other than voice such as full-motion video, video-conferencing and full Internet access). So why 3230 as a non-3G cellphone should need such a processor? :con?
There is nothing exciting about this phone other than maybe a new shape SE T610- like which I am not really too thrilled about. It has the same 123 MHz processor and OS version as Nokia 7610/6670/6260 and is mono with stereo FM radio like 6260. Let's wait for something more decent from Nokia or even Pnasonic - X 800?

You seem to be the only person who knows the CPU speed of the 3230, where did you get this information? Also the mono issue, where did you get this information?
Nokia has confirmed to me by e-mail that the phone will have stereo playback of mp3.

I heard it from someone who had a prototype model. He was really disappointed with this phone and its features. There are other sources like this one http://www.symplification.com/node/156 that suggest the same thing.
