WiFi, WLAN is just acronyms meaning Wireless (LAN) Networking, based on the 802.11b (or later) standard. If you have a Centrino Laptop it's got WiFi built in.

The advantage is that WiFi doesn't cost you like GPRS or GSM data transfer does. If your work has got Wireless LAN you can connect your Communicator with 11mbps speed (compared to about 42kbps over GPRS). If you have broadband (like ADSL) at home, you can add WiFi to your network very cheaply...
