Hey all...I have just picked my 9500 up, and haved noticed that the main screen seems to have shadows/ghost images. For instance, next to the battery and strength indicators, there is a faint outline to the right of the icons, and the same on the words on the desktop, it's as though there is an identical, but faint copy of the label slightly offset to the right.
Screen error or are they all like this?
I hope this makes sense to someone.
Cheers
Ventmore
Looking really really closely, yes I have a bit of a shadow, but I'm not sure if it's an optical illusion or if there really is a shadow there...
I guess that taking a screenshot (shift-ctrl-chr-S) won't reveal it, but maybe a high-res photo of the screen and then analyzing that in an image programme (Photoshop/PSP etc) would reveal it...
Doesn't bother me either way - I think the screen is awesome 😊
Thought I'd throw a piccy up to show the problem. You can clearly see the shadows, or whatever, to the right of all of the icons.

I didn't think people could get any more obsessive/fussy about problems with the 9500, but this takes the cake
I can faintly see an outline yes, but is that a major problem? 😉

It's not picky, I thinks it's a hardware fault, and I certainly expect more from a 500 device. The picture doesn't show how noticeable it really is. I can see it at arms length.
Does anyone else have this, or is it just me?
Sorry to sound rude, i'm just sick of all the complaining about pointless little problems (IMO anyway), i've seen huge lists of problems...and IMO only about 3 of them are actual problems, others are just compaining about things not being included (Which is not a problem it's a missing feature).
I don't see a shadow like you posted in the picture, so maybe it's a hardware problem with your phone, if it bothers you, then simply return it for a replacement 😊

No probs...I posted because it is a very noticeable problem, and I didn't think it would be a problem for people to take a quick look at their screen, and say whether they had the same issue.
I will be returning it, as obviously if you haven't got them on yours, then theres a problem. I posed the question because I didn't want to mess around getting a replacement if they were all like that.
On a seperate note, this is a discussion forum, and people generally tend to pose problems and concerns...that's the whole point isn't it?😊
Cheers

Yes I completely agree to some extent, but as explained before...I think some people are starting to get a bit fussy about it all. "Why isn't the button to release the xpress on cover colour coded with the rest of the phone"
I haven't read (except in reviews) anyone praising the phone, so far i'm throughly enjoying the 9500, I also have had a few teething problems like the rest of us, but on the whole for what I want it to do it's doing it (granted, slowly at times 😉 ) ... I think before the 9500 was annouced the "next communicator" at the time was put up on a very high pedistool, and after the annoucement it was hyped up that much that a few of us are disapointed with it now.
I agree with the perfomance related issues, I'm not also not saying that you shouldn't have posted this..it was just more a moan in general on my part 😊
Hi Ventmore,
I can see that shadow u r referring to. did u manage to replace the phone? If so does the new phone have any shadows?
Thnks

Dunno about that, I've read a lot of positive comments from people here regarding the 9500. I personally really like the 9500 but I am suprised the software isn't better than it is and I think there is good cause to have a gripe. For example I can surf as fast on the P910 using GPRS than I can using Wi-Fi, not because of the hardware, but because of the software, almost every other page just gets stuck and doesn't load, I've increased the cache from everything up to 6000k and still it's very poor and in my experience almost unusable. There are quite a few other software issues going on which I just don't know how they could be released on this phone, such as the Business search info on phone screen missing or the email programme runnign like a snail with impossible view options....this is meant to be the flagship business phone from Nokia for heaven's sake!
As I said I really like the phone because it has a proper keyboard, and a lovely sized and good quality screen, but if I was reliant more on Wi-fi connection or the email software (which is thrown out as a major selling point) I would be pretty upset with the purcahse.

Hey Stingray72...I took the phone back today and got a full refund, so I'm afraid I can't tell you whether it was a one-off fault. There were just too many things that didn't work well for my liking. As has been said above, the wi-fi is slower than my P900 on gprs, and the email program was a bit disappointing...no auto-retrieval...Really!!! I also can't live without a vibrating alert, and the snail-like menus were beginning to annoy.
Alright, maybe some of these points are picky, and some could have been fixed with third-party software, but, as noted above, this is nokias flagship business phone...I just expected more.
Cheers

Perhaps it's just me then, I do notice a lag sometimes when browsing WLAN (2mb SDSL Connection) but it's really not bad enough to call it unusable.
I had problems in the beginging with pages sometimes not showing at all, all I did was setup the phone properly to the router and now, hey presto...I managed to a Bandwidth Speed test @ 1200kbs which considering I was 3 rooms away from the router I consider not bad...pages don't load anywhere near as quick as the PC, but I wouldn't expect them too!, it's only a 150Mhz CPU remember.
I realise there are problems, perhaps for some reason they just don't annoy me as much as others or i've got one of the few good'uns :con?
