Problems with USB!!!

I am having some massive problems with connecting my A1000 to my PC via the USB-cable. The only way i can get my PC to recognize my phone, is to turn off the phone and on again with the USB-cable mounted. I am using the Desktop Suite software that came with the phone. Does anyone have a solution, please? I am going nuts over this!!! :frown:

is that not just your pc? I dont think its anything to do with the phone.

Heard a rumour that A1000 is goner be recalled because of stacks of problems, even ropier roll than the a920. real pity the phone has stacks of potential if its done right!

Hi

I am having the same problem with the A1000 and a Win 2K machine. I cant install the drivers that came with the phone (not regonised.) Also cant see the USB option in the mRouter properties.

Have managed to get certain parts working at certain times, but cant get the whole install to verify everything at once.

Whats the solution pls?

Ta

There is no solution, sorry. It's a general softwareproblem (out of many) with the A1000. There are no software-updates available yet, says Motorola, and they more or less told me that they have expirienced nothing but problems with the A1000. I think it's only a matter of time before the A1000 get's discontinued, sadly. I have returned mine to the dealer, and bought the V3 Rsr instead.

When I first got the A1000 I had problems connecting it via USB. I worked out that the cradle was part of the problem so used the USB cable straight in the phone. I noticed that you have to be quick and very straight when you plug the cable in the phone - otherwise the PC's thinks that there is, then isn't, then is, then isn't a USB device attached - all in the space of a split second. This locks up the PC's USB bus and you need to restart. If this happens you may also hear the connected & disconnected sound in rapid succession on the phone. Basically the USB cable is very temperamental.
When the USB cable is connected then the USB connection should appear in mRouter. Start MDS on the phone and connect. Then run whatever MDS component you want on the PC.

I finally gave up with the USB cable and got a USB Bluetooth adapter for the PC. It is magic - works like a charm.

Cheers,
Dave

Snap!

This seems to be the best option and also means I can send files to and from my PC while the phone's in another room which is handy for quickly installing apps or synching my appointments when I get home.

Also this allows you to browse the internet while in the bath on your A1000 instead of just putting up with Three's crap walled garden.

They are about 10-20 on Ebay. :icon14:

if anybody is having problems with their a1000 and wants the functionality i will swap it for my a925 which does everything the same except without the 1mp camera (its only 330k) but i havent seen a difference between the cameras

Embedded mRouter from Motorola needs a lot of work. Has nothing to do with the phone itself. Seems like the one from A1000 works worse than the one from A920/A925.
