Subject line says it all really. Moving from a 9110, the only real reason I had the phone was to be able to update my website on the move, using a html form and perl script combination that I've written.
Problem is, whenever I try to use it on the 9210, 8 times out of 10 it falls over with a KERN-EXEC 3.
Must confess to being less than impressed, quite honestly. If I can't get this working it's useless to me, really.
Is there a bug-fix for the web app, or am I doing something particularly dense?
What firmware you have?
if old, then
Upgrade your phone in Nokia Service centre and upgrade your phone/mmc apps from forum.nokia.com

No idea. Only got the phone yesterday. How do I find out?

3.62 is newest for now

Yep, I'm on 3.62.
Where can I find the downloads for the latest version of the web app? I've found the forums.nokia pages, but the one thing that isn't there is any upgrades to the web app. They've got a wap download, but not the web.
Did you reinstall all_nokia.. ?

It's not just the web app. that gives that failure signal. If i play the card game from Nokia, at the end of every hand the game crashes and gives that same fault. The software from the website seems a little safer than the stuff on the c.d. that comes with the phone, but it still does it.
Interestingly, I managed to find a link that still had an Opera beta on it, and downloaded that. No better. Opera bombs out with the same KERN-EXEC 3 error even BEFORE the page is displayed. Does anyone know what error 3 actually means? Memory, perhaps?
I'll try the all_nokia download and see if that makes any difference. At the moment, though, I must confess I'm very close to taking the phone back and dusting off the old 9110. Colour screen or no colour screen, Doom-capable or not, the 9110 software was a hell of a lot more stable and seemed to hang together a lot better.
Opera beta wont work..
Anybody have new info about opera? are they still developing that?
Dont mind about those error messages.. they dont say anything to you or even nokia coder.. it's just some message and only meaning is that commi hangs for some reason. Believe me... it just looks better is there's some error code and stuff..

I've tried the all_nokia download, makes no difference. Web still falls over with a KERN-EXEC 3 whenever I try to fill in that form.
Are there any known HTML processing or formatting bugs in the web application? Maybe that's what's causing it to fall over (although given that it does OCCASIONALLY work, I don't think so -- the script returns the same result no matter what you type).
If I can't get this going, it's back to the 9110 -- someone help otherwise I've just thrown 379 away!
Bizarre -- it was the ISP. Or, at least, having just managed to use the script three times in a row on the 9210 successfully, I assume it was. I've switched over from using Dircon to BT (the BT was an imported ISP from the old 9110) and, if nothing else, it seems a lot more reliable.
Has anyone else ever experienced problems with one ISP but not another?
My experience about the kernel error ?
For about 3 to 4 months, never had it... But suddenly since the last few days it comes out too when I am on the web. Strange no ?
I still am on the 3.54 version, as I heard that the 3.6xx was not too stable, waiting for soemthing better... As well, as my own experience on Software (I have a software company here in Greece) it seems that possibly an other application is causing those kind of problems. What do I meanby that ? i mean that maybe an other installed application may be the cause of those constant error messages (thoughts to Nokia to allow one to use some of their codes in order to writte correct aplications...)
Main comment to my above answer...
Why on earth Mr & Mrs Nokia do not answer to our mails or ned of help. Mr & Mrs Nokia don't want to provide us with correct technical support. Nokia centers do not know or want to lead us to solutions. Etc. Etc. Etc. Etc.... Are we just the paying pigs ???
I love my 9210, but I am really fed up of no official support from family Nokia. Hey Nokia wake up and gives us solutions!!! You build great phones, but your after sales service sucks.
Sorry for my straight words, but all my life I bought Nokia phones, and by that, spent a very good amount of money. So I believe I am entitled a little bit of consderation, no ???
In conclusion to this topic, it seems that possibly an other application is causing some incompatibility with other standrad apps, and may be the cause of those constant error messages.
Breast regards.
Have you thought about trying the last resort of getting the Firmware replaced, KERN-EXEC 3 error, screams Kernel Execute error number 3 to me, at which I'd try replacing the Kernel rather than the apps. Sorry mate but I think Firmware may be the way to go with this one, but then as it isn't working at the moment, being without it few days won't make much difference.

When you have got rid of the KERN-EXEC error, then you will be able to look forward to the MessageWatcher error.
Why does God make it that the more beautiful things are those that end up irritating us most.
Have fun and good luck.
Now this is really bizarre.
If I fill in the form at length, it works fine.
If I just fill in the form with a couple of lines of text, kern exec 3 every time.
I was wrong in my earlier post, it has nothing to do with the ISP.
Firmware-wise, I'm on 3.62 already. Are you suggesting I downgrade the firmware, or is there a later version available?
I had my commu for three months before I installed sms assistant, then i started to get the message watcher window. I ignored it once for about five minutes whilst doing something else, when i returned i had to close about fifty windows which had opened on top of each other, all with the message watcher fault. I uninstalled sms assistant and rebooted, no problem!
