Im thinking about getting a new MMC/SD card for my sendo since i only have a 64mb one at the moment, but i am curious about one thing. Sandisc have there "Ultra" range of cards which have faster read/write speeds than other brand cards. If i have a video file on this card (Smartmovie AVI) would it run just as smooth as on the phone, or maybe slightly better/worse?
Cheers
From my experience, you can't beat the phone's built in memory for performance, but a fast SD card will match the phone.
The place where you'll notice it most is when recording videos / sound to the memory card - a quick one will give you much better results than a slower one will 😊
I take it you use SmartMovie, what do you think about the phones performence? Also what settings are you using?
I don't think it make much difference TBH. I think the phone's memory card interface is limited anyway.
For instance I have a Sandisk 1GB SD card and when using my PC (with USB2.0 reader) it can read and write approx a song in less than a second. I can play anything off it including big movies and music. But then when I put it in the phone it reads/writes nowhere near as fast! In fact it reads at the same rate as my old MMC I had (and that was a slower one than my new SD card).
Basically I think the phone can only access a memory card at a certain speed and this is nowhere near the top speed of the memory card. In fact the phones top speed seems very poor.
I hope they improve its speeds though; coz often while playing a movie via RealOne player it stops and says connecting. Judging by the speed of the SD card this should not happen.
When I get a chance I will see how fast statistically the internal memory is compared with my SD card. I bet the results will be a small difference in speed and its just the way Sendo have implemented the memory card interface.
Im betting though that you are using a 1ghz+ processor when doing this though. Obviously the phone would be slower because it has something like 120mhz processor. I was just wondering if its actually worth getting a faster card or a bog standard one?
I see your point, but I was trying to say that the internal memory is faster when reading/writing dispite the real difference probably not being great. If that makes sense.
I would just get a standard one. I just got a Sandisk 1GB card and its plently fast enough on my PC.

With my experience with any additional memory, hard disk or flash.... you are going to want to format your memory while in the phone (in Sendo X's case). I bought a mediocre 128MB and I have not even witnessed any slowdown running any videos. This way Sendo formats to their efficiency. :icon14:
Its handy that bog standard cards work just as well then. Me being broke and all lol
