Nokia 9500 Accu Display Problem during Batt Charging

Hi,

first at all HELLO from a new member. Sorry about my English -I am from Germany...

I am a proud owner of the 9500 since 2 weeks and I am happy over all about this nice unit. But I have a big problem and I am intereested if any one has the same stupid display fault. I contacted NOKIA Business Care Help and I got a really stupid answer I would not post here.

When my Accu gets down and has, say, 1 block left I attach the a/c adaptor to charge the battery. After this it doesnt matter how long it hangs on the a/c outlet: 1, 3, 10 or 20 hours - it doesnt matter, the batt charge blocks at the display shows only 3 blocks, so I dont know exactly, when the battery is fully charged. When I disconnect the unit from the a(c outlet and then put the battery out from the communicator and after this I install the battery again the ndisplay shows fully charged, so I think it is really a Software problem to display the correct battery status during charging.

Has anyone the same problem? Nokia said it must be a batt defect (mhenawhile I am the proud owner of THREE ORIGINAL NOKIA BATTERIES and it with all batteries the same prcoedure). NOKIA said it could be 12 hours to charge the battery on some units (I tried it for 24 hours...)

The next point is the incomming caller ID: On some numbers the calling name displays, on some numbers only the number of the calling person displays- both nimbers are correct in the adress book and I have no idea why the names displays not with every number stored in the phonbebook.

Bye

Klaus

what I would try in your case is to take the battery out and reinsert it every night before charging, and then every morning while it's been on charge overnight. Just for a few days to see if the 9500's circuitry can begin to make sense of it. That's just a 'guess' on my part and not based on any facts. If you have the 9210i charger, try that and see if it makes a difference first. It just COULD be a duff charger.

Hi,

Thanks for the answers.

I dont believe in a broken charger.

I will test following this nite: I have juts rebooted my 9500 with a SW-Reboot-Tooll and the I connected the 9500 to the A/C-Outlet.

Tomorrow morning we will see if the Display still shows chargng with moving charging blocks (in this case it is definetly a major NOKIA SW BUG!!! or if the display shows fully charged with static fully blocks.

I will report
Bye and thanks

Hi,

it was working - just rebooting the unit before attaching the charger solved the problem: The display shows correct the end of the charging cycle.
So in my opinion it is a Software Problem but I can live with that (Thanks to the Software tool - if I must detatch the battery it would be an horror in the fact that it is not easy to get the battery out)

Bye and thanks

Klaus

@Klaus

I had the same problem as you, after about three cycles of charging & discharging (and removing the battery) the battery indicator is accurate now. But when charging it still does not indicate full battery even after 12 hours.

Hi,

>>>But when charging it still does not indicate full battery even after 12 hours.<<<

Thats the reason why I found the solution with software reboot before charging - with this reboot charging end is shown on the display.

I also have the same problem , after charging for almost 24hrs , the battery indicator is still moving and it means its not fully charge?? I hope nokia comes up with a solution to this.

Same problem with mine...
If someone has the solution, ...

i dont have this proble. but i'm sure it a software issue & will only be made ok with the next software upgrade.

I don't have this issue either (yet). But after a few hours you can be sure the battery is full, despite what the indicator says

Hi,

thats thrue, but it is easier and more secure on the display when the charging process has been stopped. And thats the way it should be by a qualified high tec product.
However, I can live with my solution to rebeoot the syste, before mnchargingb the unit - we will see when NOKIA will made an fix for this unbelievalvble dummy software problam avalaible.

Bye
and a very happy X-MAS

Hi,

meanwhile I use a 9300 unit instead of the 9500 but the same accu charging display problem happens to the 9300.

Right now I learned that about 40 percent of the users have this problem and it definetely has nothing to do with the batteries.

Meanwhile I can handle this as follows: Usually I shut off the phone device at night to charge the battery and then complete charging will not be displayed (stilll moving charging bars after 10 hours or more).

If I dont shut down the phone charging process is ok with my 9300 (finished at about 2 hours indicating no more charging bars at the display)

SW-Vers. 4.55

Bye Klaus

No such problem here (9300 v.4.53). It only takes about 1.5 - 2 hours of charge before the phone lets me know that the battery is full.
