I hooked up my 6630 to my computer with the USB cable which has Windows XP professional. My computer reads "Nokia 6630" but when it searches for the driver, it can't find the driver. I tried having it search through the Nokia 6630 disc that it came with and it still can't find the driver. Nokia's website doesn't have the driver either. If someone can help me please, that'd be great - Thx, James
6630 USB connection problem....
I had some trouble with this also. Make sure you install the nokia pc suite before connecting the cable so that way the PC will use this to recognise the phone. There is a cable driver on the nokia website. Download this and install it and you should be good to go
yep the same thing happened to me. except my computer would not find the phone. After many attempts and then re installing the software it worked. Finally managed to sinc with outlook which was good.
It still does the samething, if anyone has the actual dirver for the 6630, can u let me know? thx
Had the same problem with the computer not finding the phone. Have XP home without sp2.
Downloaded the pc suite from nokia, still same problem. Then something happened. I installed the software again... then hooked up the phone. the computer found the phone and then lost it, then it wanted to install the following, one by one...
Nokia 6630 phone parent
Nokia 6630 Generic
Nokia 6630 OBEX
Nokia 6630 OBEX
Nokia 6630 USB
Nokia 6630 Modem AT
I had the cd-rom that came with the phone in the computer, and just let xp do the work. Now it works, don't know why, but it does.

I've got the same problem with windows 2000.
Tried to reinstall Nokia PC suite many times. Even downloaded at driver program from a nokia site. When I ran the installation it claimed to have installed a driver for the DKU-5 cable but nothing changed, still can't connect to the 6630 and when checking properties of 6630 device on the computer a driver is still not present.
Tried rebooting after installation with and without the cable connected to the phone, nothing works.
Anyone got the actual driver file ? Or knows how to get it running ?
I guess the old rule of reading the istructions before using things would have been beneficial in this case too.
The manual states clearly that the cable can be connected only after the driver is installed. This driver is installed either as part of the PC Suite or as stand-alone (available on the Nokia website).
My suggestion is to remove all Nokia software, REBOOT, reinstall. All this without connecting the cable. Once all the software is installed then connect the cable. If this procedure doesn't work it means that Windows has associated a different (wrong) driver to the device and this can be fixed only manually editing the windows registry. If this is the case perhaps Nokia can help you to identify which key must be deleted in the registry so that the driver is searched again.....
Good luck

ok guys first of all u need the latest version of nokia pc suit, bcoz the cd that comes with ur nokia 6630 isnt the latest so it dont suport it, after that just install the latest pc suit then once instalation finished and comp restarted then u may plug in ur 6630 100% it should work 😃
the pc suite that came with the nokia 6630 cd cannot install correctly.
dl the 1 from nokia website.
it works on series60/40 phones w/ BT, cable & infrared.
The cd version of the drivers requires you to have SP1 or later installed on your xp machine (tested under xp pro)

all the nokia problems listed above have been bugging me for months.
I successfully installed my nokia 6630.
Then .The next day .
The phone wasn't recognised.
The Solution.
1) Disconnect phone and USB lead.
2) Put Installation disc in.
3) turn phone off .
4) plug phone to USB and USB to PC.
5) PC will do the FOUND new hardware routine.
6) play along with your PC. Let the PC find the new hardware.
7) The PC needs to install 5 or 6 different drivers.
8) keep clicking "ok. find new hardware" and "finish"
It's a long task.
but it works in the end.
