Can the Vodafone UK Nokia 6630 be un-locked?

Ive been told that its using a sim lock code system, so calculators available on the web won't work. I tried myself various codes with no luck.
If i cant get to unlock it soon, i might ring customer service and pay the �20 😞

I called Voda yesterday and asked for my unlock code so fingers crossed this should be here soon.

I tried loads of different people but in the end decided to stick with who I knew could get the job done.

Does anyone know how long I can expect to wait for Vodafone to get me the code ?

Thats a real pain in the bottom as I'm off the states Thursday and really need it to be unlocked to allow me to put a US Sim.

Anyone found a quicker way to get a code from Vodafone

I know. I've phoned them up every few days and they keep saying they are waiting for the code from the manufacturer. I phoned Nokia and they said the operator provides the un-lock code??? All Vodafone keep saying is that there is a delay/back-log because it's Christmas.

I've been waiting since the 7th Dec i think. Gone well over the 7 days they initially told me. Still keep telling me they are waiting for the unlock code from Nokia. I dont know how they can get nokia to lock it and not even send them the code for reference. Its ludicrous. My phone is just sitting around breathing air as its useless to me as my main provide is not voda.

Been waiting since the 6th of dec myself. Its been over 2 weeks and this is frustrating. I am abroad atm and I cant use the damn phone!
I've seen in a forum elsewhere that people have posted their unlock codes so these people MUST have gotten the codes from vodafone as noone else can unlock it yet.

This is amazing. I've found this thread ( http://nokiafree.org/forums/t70887/h/s.html ) where a guy has posted his genuine supplied unlock code but he says that was supplied via a friend rather than VodaFone CS.

If any one discovers any way other then VodaFone, please update this thread

Well I've been chasing my code daily and according to vodafone, nokia don't have codes on there database yet and there are loads of people in a list waiting for them to be released.
They then told me that after ordering my code I would be entered in the list and have a choice of being notified when the code is available via either e-mail or post.

I opted for e-mail and will post here when I get mine.

Has anyone got their unlock code from Vodafone yet?

Also, does anyone know what the latest firmware version is from Vodafone? Can the phone be re-flashed to a later version from a Vodafone store?
