O2 wap won't connect :(

Hello

Ive got a Nokia 6600 on O2 with the Online 200 tariff. It comes with 500 free wap dialup minutes. About 2 months ago I stopped being able to access any wap pages like Ananova or BBC. I can however still connect to my pop3 email account.

Im guessing its a problem at their end, maybe theyve changed the dialup number for wap or something. Unfortunately their support is entirely manned by cretinous retards who have repeatedly failed to reply with anything useful in their emails.

Im currently using the +447712927927 dialup number which I was sent from their webpage by selecting the 6610. Im assuming its similar to the 6600 which they refuse to add to the settings page.

Im just wondering if anybody on this tariff can connect to wap pages using the free wap dialup, not the GPRS.

Im really regretting ever leaving Orange. Yes theyre more expensive and late with new phones but at least they employed intelligent people in customer support. Cant wait until the end of my contract so I can change back.

Using that number I can again access email but not wap pages. Very strange :frown:

EDIT:

well I've fixed the problem and here's how in case anybody else is unlucky enough to be an O2 customer with this problem.

the following settings need to be added to the gsm wap access point

proxy 193.113.200.195 port 8080

I have no idea why the settings you are sent from the O2 website don't include these obviously vital details, but then what do you expect from such a bunch of incompetent idiots 😡 :icon13:

I just need to wait 5 days for the horrendous online billing system to catch up to see if wap access with these settings comes out of my free minutes or not.
