The 7610 is my first Nokia (used to be an ericcson fan) and am seriously considering dumping the Nokia for .....anything.
First, the voicedialling works only about 30% of the time.
Now I cannot use the pc software. The software will not recognise the phone if I connect it. I keep getting a wizard asking whether i want to look for software updates !
Anyone have any ideas?

The voice dialling did have some problems. This was fixed with a firmware update I believe. PC Suite is and always was mostly junk, but generally works well at backup/restore, transferring files, installing apps., etc. for me. Do try uninstalling and reinstalling or browsing around the faq at nokia's site. Maybe you will get your problem solved.

Could you tell me whe the firmware update for the voicedialling came out. I shall them asl the Nokia Centre to install it.
They did install an update, but the voicedialling did not improve: all I got were messages saying I had a voicedial system error (i could not delete or change the voice tags) and the phobe does not show the name of the person (onlky the number) if I have more than one number attached to the name (I do not have the same names more than once)
The firmware update was 4.0437. This ought to have fixed the voice dialling issue AFAIK. Maybe nk_au can help further.
The phone should show the person name (in fact if I add a log item to a contact or create a new contact, the log actually changes the number to the person name), unless you have allotted the same number to more than one name. Most of my contacts have several numbers but always the name shows. You can again take it to the NSC and let them re-flash/format it. It may be possible your update was corrupted. When I was waiting I asked them why the re-flash was taking so long, (after all it is only a few MB) I was informed they had to re-test most functions to ensure proper flashing.
Mate ... mate ... may I ask, why did you not choose to buy a 7610? Didn't like it?
My 7610 with firmware v4.0437.4 has no problems with Voice Dialling (except the fact, that i can't say "right wing" the same way 10 times)
If its your handset problem, then you need to get it reflashed.
If its a firmware problem, then wait for Nokia to release a new firmware version.
Mate ... don't dump Nokia ... yet. You do know, that the first wave of Nokia phones are always buggy. The updated firmware versions afterwards makes it more effecient and fixes minor bugs.
Agree with nk_au. I remember my old 5110 improved considerably with a firmware flash. It is still going strong 5 years now. Fast easy menu, very good reception/voice quality.
