N-gage will not boot

Hello all,

I've tried searching the FAQ, forum and manual and haven't found any tips on diagnosing the problem I'm having. I recently acquired an N-gage as a "broken" phone and the phone does not power up. If I plug in the AC adapter it does show the Nokia logo, then appears to reboot and this repeats 3 times. There is no backlight when this happens so I'm suspecting the battery may be bad. I've allowed it to charge for some time and used a voltmeter on it. Its showing 3.59 Volts. Is this an acceptable number? I know the battery is marked at 3.7 V but what is a real-world reading on a known good battery? Also are there other things that could be wrong with the phone that would cause it to reboot continually?

I'm a total noob to the N-gage and Symbian phones so please don't be afraid to ask simple questions. BTW yes there is a SIM, Tomb Raider and battery in when I try to boot it. 😃

Thanks for any advice you may be able to give.

Yes, its a software problem caused when you fill up the internal memory of the N-gage. Take it to Nokia center.

Thanks for the information. I'm guessing that's why the previous owner got rid of it since it wouldn't boot.

I'm in the US so I don't think we have any service centers around. Is this something only a Nokia service center can fix? I'd have to ship it to Nokia and they want $45 US minimum to even look at it.

Thanks again!

No, it wouldn't be that much. If its under warranty it would be even free. If its not it would probably be something like 15 or 20 $.

But just guessing, may be more or less.

How can I fix the same problem by the n.gage buy from USA, but I am in Hon Kong now~?
