Good news - Internet now available on 3 G Australia

I've just recently been given by 3 G Orange (Australia) a program callled Connections which allows you to access data outside the 3 G walled garden. It works like a charm!! You've just got to remember to disconnect or re-enter the 3 G environment for your email to work properly.

They said they'll put a link on their web page. If they haven't give them a call. All you do is get them to email it to you and then install it on the phone.

Cheers

To setup an internet connection on your A1000 (in Aus):

* Open Control Panel
* Connections Tab
* Internet accounts
* New - Account name: 3netaccess, Connection type: GPRS

Then disconnect the web browser (from 3's walled garden) and enter an internet URL.

Cheers,
Dave

I was able to get external Internet access from day 1 after I purchased the A925 handset from Hutchison 3G Australia. Just cannot afford to expensive charge so-called 1 cent per kilobtye datacom fee. Surfing any webpage will easily cost you tens of dollars that you might not realise. So beware !

yeah my latest bill was $140AU and $100 of it was mobile internet, the rest being payments for my a925 and my girlfriend's a835.. i hardly make any calls and she's on a 3 month free bill thing

I hope when and if it comes over to "rip off" britian that the pricing is prepay to unlimited download, just like the 5 a month unlimited video downloads that im on at the moment.

If you think about it the total value of being able to download unlimited Music videos, Football scores, News videos and the like is far more than being able to surf the net in 3’s eyes surely.

The only need I have at the moment for Internet access is the internet chat apps that are available, and nhGPS, which in terms of kilobytes of download quantity would not be half as much a month as a 4 meg music video.
