hello

has someone tried to use the P910i as a faxmodem via Bluetooth?

i'm trying to figure it out with my powerbook running mac os x 10.3.7 but i always get an error message the a serial RFCOMM channel could not be opend.

has anyone an idea.

does it work out under windows

thank you

I've tried to connect the phone to my PC using the cradle. Followed the instructions throughly but it just wouldn't recognize the phone as a modem. When just connecting it through USB it works like a charm.

Yep. I was referring to it's modem capabilities...

The fact that it doesn't support fax transmission, being the "ultimate cellphone for buisnessmen" strikes me really as odd.

It was a decision taken my Ericsson quite a few years ago that fax was no longer necessary for business. Obviously, there are still those that use it, but they took the decision that their weren't enough that wanted it to warrant the cost!

That is so wrong. I want to be able to send my resume or Word files I write via fax and I can't.
Too bad there is not 3rd party program that does fax, too....

It is nothing to do with software. The modem in the R380, P800, P900 and P910 do not support fax.

And I think you'll actually be surprised just how few people do still use fax. Unfortunately, those who do use fax tend to use it a lot and for quite important stuff so it tends to be a big ommision for them. But for the majority of users, fax just isn't important and this is why SE have not included it in any smartphones. All of these things come down to cost\benefit.

For me, WiFi is hugely important, but the vast majority of people still have no need for it so only the Nokia 9500 (so far) has included it in a symbian smartphone.

Always a way around a problem - I have an ISP in S.A. that offers faxmail - faxes in is free, faxes out is prepaid. All you have to do is send the fax ( whether it is a sheet, notepad, pdf or jpg) as an email to a certain email address at the ISP which includes a pin no, and the fax no you want to send to, and Voila!
