I recently bought a nokia N-gage Qd and am having problems accessing the gprs service..Now i've been to o2, the place I bought it, and NO ONE has a solution, all the settings are correct and have been checked multiple times and I have tried hard resetting but to no avail, what happens is..
The phone connects to gprs, then..nothing, it doesn't continue on to a web page, the box next to the G flashes but nothing happens. If I try and connect through arena, i get to the page 'checking for updates' and nothing happens, i've tried just leaving the phone to download but it's just not happening, i've tried my sim in 3 brand new n-gage QD and none have worked, however It's not my sim at fault because I can access gprs wap on other models of wap phone.
I am at a total loss. So are the phone shops, no one seems to know whats going on, so ANY help is appreciated
ps:I have already checked all the phone settings on the wap connections page on this site. It just seems like the phone doesnt have a browser, or can't access it?

I also have the same problem! I'm on O2 UK and have had my phone sent away and had its guts replaced, I've been to numerous phone shops including O2's own. It seems that O2 and the QD don't get on too well.
The manager of my O2 shop has suggested I get my firmware updated from the carphone warehouse, however there is no guarantee that this will work. For now I have started using my Orange sim which access WAP with ease and is great when using Opera...
Sadly something else has gone wrong now... my wap browser crashes when I try to connect... just as well i have Opera!!!
are you using an orange sim on the same n-gage that o2 wouldnt connect on? and that works ok?
i'm considering getting an orange sim card to try it..
Im also having the same problem and i dunno how to fix it.
it getting on my nerves aswell as i want to connect to gprs.

I'm having the same problem as many of you, when i try to connect to n-gage arena it says updating.. and never actually stops saying it!
Its getting on my nerves and ive configured all the settings many times, and have been on many forums!
Does anyone have the solution!?
I had the same prob, but have researched and found the solution,
Change the access point,
and click advanced settings,
and change the proxy server address,
193.113.200.195,
and port number 8080,
there if u do not understand pm me.
+ is there a way to get free GPRS, on orange as it is one of the networks that support N-Gage Arena.

That solution didn't work for me.
I've dumped o2 and gone over to Orange. Worked instantly with them, i'd suggest you all do the same, o2 blamed my phone and wouldn't even talk to me about it. So..screw them 😮)

o2, from my experience so far, aren't too good at all. They do not support delivery reports, have no clue about the QD and why it isn't working with their GPRS... time to switch back to Orange. The only problem is I'll have to get my number transferred after telling everyone in my phonebook my new one.
My solution works 4 me, i got it off filesaveas, neway, i wnt 2 orange they sed that my phone was broken, i switched 2 orange and it wokred fine (Arena) so im gonna complain :P
This issue is also prevelant in Ireland on O2 -IRL.
I have tried Vodafone and Meteor Sims and the GRPS/MMC Configuration Settings for them and they work fine.
When trying to use the QD on O2, I get the Message App Browser Closed.
I have check the settings from back to front used the Nokia Settings from www.nokia.co.uk and still no joy.
Seems like it is not compatiable in any form or manner on this network weither it be pre-pay or bill-pay
I have the same problem in finland... I've been calling for customer services for a while now, and there's no solution found anywhere.
I've also tried my friends SIM cards and that didn't work any better.
It's really frustrating. Really, is the only solution to find a working sim card?
