Just got a new 64MB MMC (SanDisk), is it really true that compared to an original Nokia MMC card, these non-originals are not stable
MMC
There's many opinions.. for Sandisk maeby because there was lot of problems with MMC's in old 9110 time, and many cases, all user data was lost and that because Sandisk has set of faulty cards.
I have 64MB Sandisk card with no problems.. yet ![]()

thanks
I also pack a 64MB Sandisk MMC in mine, and it works perfect..
And I also had a 16MB Sandisk on my old 9110 witch also works perfect...
So my opinoion is that Sandisk works just as good as Nokias.
Cheers
well, i had bought my 64MB card from TIMASCI (a hitachi chipset) & i had a problem with it, i had to send it back to canada & tey are sending me a replacement.
I just hope the new one is not faulty.
Nokia also does not want to work with this card, i had told them to format it & load everything again, but they said that they prefer not to work with a non-nokia product.
ciao

Hi,
I also bought my 64 MB MMC on Timasci, and it works fine...
Ahhh... the mistery of technology! ![]()
Regards
i just noticed that when i formatted my 64MB SanDisk on my 9210 before the total space free after the format was only 62MB, for all you 64MB SanDisk owners out there, have you noticed this also
My MMC is 64MB (from Timasci) and it has 60-62 MB free space more or less. I suposse this is alright!
Regards!
Yep its fine. They all do this as the manufacturers often quite the size unformatted.

Yep...Its Normal...
Explanation...
(Got it for Snadisk FAQ)

Why is the size of my card appearing slightly smaller when read by my system than the capacity listed on the label?
Symptoms
The operating system, when reading the size of the card, reports a slightly different capacity than what is listed on the card's label.
Affects
MultiMediaCard
Operating systems Most
Hardware platform All legacy computers.
Definitions of a Megabyte
1) Operating Systems commonly define a Megabyte (MB) as 2 to the 20th power (1,024KB--Kilobytes).
2) DiskDrive and Flash Memory Card Manufacturers commonly define a MB as one million bytes (exactly 1,000,000 bytes).
Unformatted (Capacity)
Also known as drive byte capacity before formatting. The Maximum capacity of disk drive before formatting equals [ (# Cylinders) X (# Heads) X (# Sectors) X (# Bytes per Track) ]
Example
64MB CompactFlash Card
490 Cylinders
8 Heads
32 Sectors
512 Bytes per Track
This equates to [ (490) X (8) X (32) X (512) ] = 64,225,280
Unformatted Capacity 64,225,280 bytes
Formatted Capacity 63,934,464 bytes (User Data)
Cause
Disk Drive Companies such as SanDisk define 1 MEGABYTE as 1,000,000 BYTES. Operating Systems define 1 MEGABYTE as 1,048,576 BYTES (1024K X 1024K or 2 to the 20th power).
Example
SanDisk 64MB CompactFlash Card being read by Microsoft Operating System.SanDisk Total Formatted Capacity divided by 1 MB (as defined by the Operating System) equates to the following SanDisk Total Formatted Capacity of 63,934,464 BYTES equates to 60,972,656 BYTES (60.9MB) displayed by OS.

Hmmmm...
Wierd ehh...

My Sandisk now has to be formatted. I am in the middle of that process.
(brrrrr any advice what NOT to do?)
After installing Mobipocket ( could be the reason, but I can hardly believe it) or playing with changing backup folders, while backing up the C drive with Filemanager backup ( more probable) , I have now a lot of garbage files randomly scattered on my 64 MB Sandisk. Till then no problems.
I like however very much the USB reader.
The backup software from Nokia never worked, or stopped after three times; so this reader is much nicer and faster
