Hi there, i just got my nokia 6600, i have used my friends one quite a bit so i know how to use it however this one keeps nagging em to selected a access point. I dont use piture messaging or wap through my phone so i dont think i need them.
But anyway when i turn my phone on i have to choose either

1 D - Orange
2 G - Orange GPRS
3 G - Orange Internet
4 G - Orange MMS

i tried all 4 but the messages keeps appearing after a while it stops, but i turned my phoen off for charging, i turned it back on and it askign for it all over again. Many peopel say they have problems with a Orange Nokia 6600 but this is my only problem my phone will give me callers name even if its not in international form (+44 at the start) etc.

When i do *#0000# i get the following firmware version

v 4.09.1
26-02-04
NHL - 10

any tips on how to stop the access message from appearing, would deleting all my current access points help???
This phone is not on contract, i using my pay as you go orange sim card in this new phone.

do orange have a different set of gprs settings for PAYG customers? maybe when the phone registers itself on the GPRS network (at phone startup) it finds a conflict between your settings and your sim because of the settings type. im not on orange, and i have never had these messages (firmware 3.42.1 the one without the DRM 😊 ). if it really begins to bug you, you could try a full format.

Hey,

Why not just delete them options you already have, go here :-

http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,41887,00.html

And have the settings SMS'd to you? Follow the instructions as it will ask you where you are, what provider you use etc. and then a settings sms will be sent to you to store on the phone.
Much easier than going thru support.

Ian

i tried that already, i never got any of the SMS messages, it does say at the bottom of the page, ensure that this support is included with your package or somethign similar. since id idnt recieve them i guess it isnt, ill try a few more times thou.

it says

"If the settings do not arrive within 3 minutes, please try again. Make sure this feature is included in your current service plan by your operator. If you experience further problems, please contact your network operator."

However i have finally revieced a text from them, so ill do all my settings and see if it helps, thanks alot

at the moment, the message has returned but ill give it a couple of days to see if it comes back, i never use the internet so i shouldnt need these access points.

Day 1 - Since choosing the new wap access point the message has not yet returned, if ti stays off for a week i think it is fixed. And the reason why nokia didnt send me the SMS first time round was i missed a 4 from the middle of my mobile number. 😊

Day 2 - Christmas, Message has not returned so i am reasonably happy to say, it aint coming back! 😃 :icon14: :icon14: :icon14:

Merry Christmas All

p.s. this was quickier than using orange customer support, they havent even replied to me yet... if at all in the future!!!
