Buttons Dont Work?

Lately ive been noticing that my 7 and clear buttons do not work consitently and require hard multiple pushes to get it to work? It could be from dropping the phone is there a way i can fix this on my own? its not the case or keypad because i tried it without both to see if those were causing the problem. Could i have knocked something loose and needs to be opened up and set back into place? Please help.

I have the same exact problem! The 7 is pretty bad and the clear isn't that bad but it's noticable. My thought is that they are either push points in my pocket or that those buttons are so commonly used that they just wear out easily.

Sorry I can't be of much help but my only thought is that it is the white key mat (not sure what it's called). If you take off the cover you should see what I'm talking about. Then I assume you go to a large hardware store and get a some sort of 6 pointed screw driver bit, take the screen off and the metal covering and replace the key mat.

This is only a guess as I've really only planned out how to fix it and not actually gone through the motions.

Hope this helps.

are you using an non-original cover? i had one and it didn't fit 100% so some buttons didn't work. try to put the original cover on it and use a plastic key mat, not this rubber crap. but i had an 5110 where one of the metal things under the cover were not in the right position, so i had to open and repair it.

No I'm using original. It even says T-mobile on it. I took the buttons/t-mobile cover off just now and pressed where the keypad would press on the 7. I can hear it click and still not register the 7. If I hold the 7 it works. Also, where the 7 button on the white button mat bubbles out of the metal plate I can feel that it doesn't bubble out as much as the other buttons. If that makes any sense. The clear feels pretty much normal, I think your clear is worse than mine.

I definatly think it's something to do with either the pc board under that white button mat or the mat itself.

Just to clerify I don't mean the keypad with numbers and such on it I mean if I take off the case and look at what the keypad pushes on. Sorry I don't know the names.

I have had my phone since august 2003. This started during the summer of 2004 about june or july. How long have you had your phone for before the buttons started having problems.?
