Did the research, read the Boards. Got 9500 for all the features and "SUPPORTS BLACKBERRY" on numerous sites, press releases etc. Love the unit problem is that sinking feeling is setting in. Nokia support"We dont sell that in the us yet so I dont really know what to tell you if it will work with Tmobil and email etc....Blackberry where do we say that?
TMobile, we dont support it here? Want blackberry? Sorry you will need to use the web Tmobile etc. Bottom line I now have the most expensive phone on the planet that cannot perform what I bought it for???????????? Anybody out there using it corp email(What it is supposed to be geared for?) Any ideas' workarounds etc
Blackberry is not released for the 9500 yet. It is expected Q1 2005
http://press.nokia.com/PR/200409/959823_5.html says "Symbian OS-based BlackBerry connectivity expected on Nokia 9500 Communicator during Q1 2005".
Q1 starts 1.1. and ends 31.3. (or 1/1 - 3/31, if you're American). So, not yet, apparently. And "expected" may mean that it is planned, but not guaranteed to be available during Q1.
You can access "corp email", if your "corp" supports either browser based (Web or WAP) email access, or access via standard Internet email protocols (POP3/IMAP4 and SMTP) with or without VPN (Virtual Private Networking). In other words "corp email" does not equal "RIM BlackBerry". 😉
Also, "the most expensive phone on the planet" is not the 9500, but these: http://www.vertu.com
I use the e-mail software from 9500 to acess to my e-mail corporation, with SMTP protocols. Very good software. 😉
Unfortunally it doesn't have HTML protocol, so you can't use it with personal hotmails accounts. :frown:
There's isn't really a "HTMP protocol" access to Hotmail, but a Microsoft variation of WebDAV over HTTP that, e.g., Outlook Express supports (and which Microsoft hasn't documented for others to use).
But you can access Hotmail using the phone's browser. The user interface with the least "overhead" is probably through http://mobile.msn.com/wml
