how can you install the USB if you don't have Windows XP service pack one...

Use Bluetooth then.
Also strongly suggest you install xp sp2 - it includes all sp1 fixes and is available for free cd from Microsoft, if you are registered user.
i have the same problem but i cant put either service pack on because my copy of xp is of the back of a lorry!! any ideas?
