Some things about SX1 which I don't like, what I tried and it didn't helped

First of all sorry for my english, I'm not a native. So, I have SX1 for about 2 weeks, and I noticed a few things which I don't like, but maybe it can be solved in some way (or maybe I'm just blind 😊.

1. the phone starts to ring at full volume after 2-3 sec. I'm using incoming call alert ringing not ascending, but even though the sound doesn't play at 100% volume from the start and immediately (it first redraws the screen, which is slow, and then starts to ring from silent to loud). It's confusing, because sometimes my girlfriend rings me through and I don't notice it. I do not need some fancy animations or thumbnails when somebody is calling me. I understand that there must be some time to initialize the playing, but I don't know, it's too slow for me. Is there any difference between using .wav and .mid files according to speed? Or is there any other sound format which I can use to speed it up?

2. I don't understand why the alarm is dependant on actual profile (strictly speaking on the ringing volume). Especially when I forget to switch the profile from Mute to General and set the clock to wake me up at the morning I will oversleep for sure, because the phone will just blink and not ring. I think that alarm should use it's own profile (and volume). Another thing is, that I can't change the ringtone for it, it's not too smart for this smartphone. Does anybody know some program that will do what I desire (customized alarm independant of ringing profiles)?

3. Connection problems on WinXP Sp1 and Sp2, mRouter says it's connected (through USB or Bluetooth), but Data Suite says it's not. I succeded only two times(Data Suite has detected the mobile), but I don't know under which conditions. Somebody has recommended (Bluetooth case) to uncheck all connections in mRouter and then check first the Client Application Bluetooth Serial COM port and after that the Local Services Bluetooth Serial COM port. I think that it worked in one of my two successful cases, but it's not working any more. For the USB case, I first tried to install the things regulary from the CD. When I connected the phone a Siemens SX1 modem appeared in Device Manager, but Data Suite sad it's not connected. Then I dowloaded Siemens mobile phone USB modem driver (for W98/W2k), installed it, it appeared in Device Manager but it says it's not working properly (I think because it's for W2k and not for WXP). I saw somewhere some initial commands for the modem, but I can't find it anymore (it was on some forum). So now I can send and recieve files only through bluetooth and only to phone memory, which is very limited in capacity (I have 512MB MMC too, but I can't copy to it directly, Data Suite should be able to do that, but the connection doesn't work). Does anybody tried something else to make the Data Suite recognize the phone?

Dear,

aboout you problems:

1) This is an other way to solve your problem: You can craeate Groups in your
Contacts & assign a Special Ringing Tone to them . If anyone is important for you,
Create a group & Set that number to this group and assign a special ringing tone
to the group.

2) I don't know answer now!!

3)Are you use a firewall?if you use,Set these actions for mRouter & mRouterconfig:

Access these programs to connect to internet & trusted zone(Local network).

Access the programs to act as SERVER for internet & trusted zone.

Merry Christmas & Good Luck!

1. About that thing with my girlfriend - I didn't mean that I can't recognize that she calls because of the same melody as others have, but because sometimes she rings only for 1-2 sec and the phone isn't so fast (or whatever the problem is) to start ringing immediately. There was no problem on my old Nokia3330 because it rings immediately(but it can't be of course compared to SX1). All of the new phones start to ring after a few seconds, or it's just on SX1? (yeah, I now, I now, I should tell my girlfriend to ring me through at least for 5 seconds, but I don't like it anyway).

2.

3. I'm not using any firewall (I turned it off immediately after WinXP install)

Now I tryied a bluetooth connection on W2k just through Quick Connect->Bluetooth Serial Port->Siemens SX1. First it showed a message "The Bluetooth serial port COM0 is now configured to connect to the device Siemens SX1. The Application that will use this connection must be configured to use COM0. The Application may be started at any time." And immediately after that a message "Error creating Bluetooth Serial Port connection with device Siemens SX1". But it's connected anyway and Data Suite works. Wondering what the COM0 is. mRouter says it's connected on COM3 (Local Services bluetooth serial port). So on W2k no problem, but what about WinXP? Maybe I should try to enable the firewall and set the access :hmmmm:

A new thought occurred to me now about what I dislike on SX1. It's the system connector on the earphones. When listening to MP3s I can't use my KOSS Porta Pro headphones, what's pity, because they are a LOT better. Does somebody tried to cut off the cable and attached a standard connector at the end of the cable? I know there is an antenna and I'm considering to cut off the earphones, but I don't know how many wires are inside the cable. I mean, is there a special wire for an antenna or it's the same wire as used for the left and right channel?

I think that'd be very bad. When I select a "Silent" profile, I want the phone to stay silent in any and all circumstances (meeting, restaurant, movies, theatre, at night), and no alarm or other sounds should be heard for any reason. Silent must mean silent.

What would help, is timed profiles, where you could have the profile change from "Silent" after a certain time, or a certain calendar appointment. Try Psiloc Extended Profiles for that: http://www.psiloc.com/index.html?id=156

If you want to use a silent alarm you can use Calendar->New Entry->Meeting and there you can enable or disable the alarm, but I know what you mean.

I tried IR connection with my laptop today, but it's the same as with the cable or BT. mRouter says it's connected, but DataSuite says it's not :s:

simply use your windows to upload your things you need uploading, i have found datasuit to be a a very confusing user unfriendly pos.

i simply upload all my mp3's and files using windows.

OR, you could get a card reader, wich i'm thinking of doing to, co's the usb datacable i very slow when it comes to transferring larger files like 5mb big mp3's, they are dirt cheap and from what i hear up to 20 times faster then the datacable

I have the same problem as Coroner at point 1. This 2-3 sec 'silent hole' is very irritaiting. Does anyone know how to make this phone to ring faster...?

Yes, 2-3sec fade in is bad bad bad bad. And another question:

I had Nokia3210 before I bought SX1. When Nokia ringed I always heard. I could be even in other room and I never missed a call (to Siemens: Sometimes somebody buys a phone to know that somebody calls). Now I have SX1 and every day I have 5-7 missed calls. The reason? Invalid system of ringing. Why isn't there a possibility to use some 'synthetic', 'electronic' sound, something in the way of older phones. The sounds were always hearable. Yes, it's funny to have somebodys daddys snoring as ringing tone but sometimes one must go to work and be a little serious.

OK, dont take me too serious. 😊 Can somebody advice?

Hi Guys,

I am sick and tired of that Data Suite software... mRouter detects the phone but SDS doesn't... Does anyone have any suggestions other than that firewall stuff (as I turned it off and I still get the same problem!)

Thx

Sometimes i had the same problem and the solution was: turn off firewall... and... restart phone...
