Hi i have this dictionary icon on my phone, which was functioning well.
Today when i press enter
It will show error msg "Dictionary word missing. Install word database" 🙄
I can't delete the dictionary icon away! :frown:
Anyone know how to solve error msg or remove dictionary icon away from my phone? 😡
My friend just got a new Nokia 6670 and it has the exact "Dictionary word missing. Install word database" as well. The thing is, nothing has been removed and the MMC is intact in the phone. Any clues?

as far as i know this is because the main language from the phone is the only one that has the dictionary
so lets say a phone fom the UK will have english as first language
so the dictionary language will be english also
now lets say you change the language to german
then the dictionary will give you that error
because only the standard language was programmed in , in this case english
a way to fix this is go to a nokia dealer and let them reprogram the phone with your home language or whatever language you want it to be
not interested in anything, i just wanna remove the icon from the menu
p.s : the uninstall prog is not present in the MANAGER
I've found the solution today as i'm totally sad it happaned to my new N95.
Go to Nokia 3250's page and download the database in .zip file,
EXTRACT everything which will come out as 'private' folder.
Inside 'private' there will be a folder named '101f9cfe'
Now just copy the whole '101f9cfe' foldrer into your phone's memory card's 'private' folder, plug out the USB port, open your dictionary and WHALLA!
It's done and i am as happy as when i first got my phone.
Cheers!
I can`t find the database! Can you please give me a link? I have that problem too.

I'm not sure whether the one you want is the English - Chinese Bidirectional version or not, but i've sent you a PM for the link.
I have a similar issue = only when i try and install the dictionary, it gives me a message stating 'install base package first.'
I have no idea what this means! I've tried everything you wrote above - i managed to locate the database through file manager and not application manager since nothing is showing up re: my phone in application manager.
Please help!
