I don't know if anyone here has experienced this before, but in the last 2 days, my P800 has strangely started to "see" my downloaded mp3 files (on my 128Mb Memory Stick) as WAV files, and gives a "playback error" when I try to play them.
I tried deleting and reloading the files last night, and it worked OK.
Imagine my surprise to wake up in 2005 and find that the new files had changed back to WAV files!
It must be said that when I look at the files through the PC Suite, they are still mp3 files, but the P800 displays them as WAV files, and as such can't play them. Weird!
Could this be a bug, or a new OS virus? Does anyone know how to get around this weird problem?
Dear All,
This is just to update the thread by confirming that when I deleted some of the mp3 files (a suggestion form another forum), the remaining files in my P800 "reverted" to mp3. Any users experiencing this problem should take note.
However, I've since deleted all my mp3 files and switched to Ogg format using Ogg player - amazingly, you get considerably higher audio quality for much lower bitrate, resulting in double the pleasure for half of the storage space. I also found out that WinAmp Player supports Ogg file format, and that's going to have big implications for my entire music collection, not just my P800's...
Thanks to all, and more power to ogg/Vorbis. Recommended!
