e-Mail and Printer use issues! — Nokia 9300 and 9500

Hi, all,

I'm having some trouble setting up access to my e-mail on my 9500. I enter all the details (pop and smtp servers etc), and the 9500 will recover e-mail, but I can't send it. I've checked the settings loads of times and it's driving me crackers - can anyone help? I'm with One.Tel, if that's of issue...?

Also, I have a HP wireless printer which works through my Wireless network at home - again all the settings are correct (as far as I can tell), but nothing will print - is there any secret art to setting up wireless printers?

Thanks in advance for any info. Isn't it ridiculous that we don't have predictive text? 😛

Which SMTP do you use?

Remember you can't use the SMTP server of your provider if it does not allow autentication, but SMTP server of your GPRS/Edge provider.

I use smtp.onetel.net

Not sure I follow with the rest of your reply - there is an option for authentication or not on the 9500, so surely it shouldn't make a difference?

If not, how do I use the SMTP server of Vodafone to recover my e-mails from One.Tel without having to use a forwarding address?

You have to set smtp.onetel.net as your incoming mail server (POP3/IMAP), but you have to set your GPRS/EDGE provider (Vodafone) as the outgoing mail server (SMTP).

This works for me when accessing for example my yahoo mail. If your GPRS/EDGE provider requires SMTP Authentication (mine does not) you have to fill this too.

Can you use yahoo mail on your phone?

Yes I can and it works so far perfectly (I have a Yahoo Mail Plus account so I have POP3 access, which ordinary Yahoo Mail does not provide).
