SMS Backup

Check to make sure your 7650 is in range and is actually connected. WIth most IR drivers, an icon will appear on the desktop saying 'send files to another computer or device' but only when your device is in range. There's also an indication at the bottom of the screen from within nokia suite saying connected, or offline.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. My phone is connected and have been transferring pictures etc. I just can't select the data import option as it says I'm not connected, even though everything else is working ok

Yeah right... there should be a way to backup all sms or email msg in the phone...

Rafe, J2theIZZO or Dazler... is there any appl out there for this question raised by oliroe? Anyone in this fourm, if time allow, do help up oliroe on this.

1. find the "SMS Journal" program, developed for nokia 9210 users at:
http://www.karsten-seiferlin.de/html/sms_journal.html

2. backup with pcsuite all your 7650 data

3. start SMS Journal, go to "setup" and set the SMS folder: Usually C:\Nokia\Nokia 7650\backup\Internal\system\Mail

4. go to "SMS" then to the buttons on the right of the fake 9210 display, and click "import"

5. voila now you can hit "export" and choose your favorite format.

when you hit the export button when I do this for the 300 or so messages tat are in my phone, nothing seems to happen...does it export it to a particular file? it does'nt seem to go anywhere? I would like to export as text so I can then keep a log of my pc of my messages and save phone space?!

The export button is quite a mystery on the software. It does'nt seem to do anything (least of what it is supposed to).

We are all waiting for a fix for this😞

As had been suggested erlier A li'l application on the phone which could send individual messages as .txt files to the pc would be great :angel:
