Hello,
has anyone used the Opera browser successfully with the A1000? I installed the browser, but it didn't work.

Opera is already installed afaik. Start the browser and point it to the web address
about:
It will show "Opera 7.50 for Symbian OS ("708"😉"
dipshun wrote:Hello,Hi, I had the same problem. It seemed to start and then, nothing happened. I think the problem is, that the pre- installed browser in the A1000 is an Opera browser.has anyone used the Opera browser successfully with the A1000? I installed the browser, but it didn't work.
You're right. Thanks. Now comes the next question:
1. can we change the startup homepage set by THREE?
2. Are there plugins that can be downloaded and installed onto the A1000?
Thanks!

What type of plugins do you mean?
there are two plug-ins installed: Shockwave, and HutchPad Central Plugin.
I'm not sure whether you can install more plugins or not.
As for web access, I was able to use my internet provider's account info and use that to get into the internet. it's dial-up, but i'm not paying extra for it.
😊

Really pathetic. It is not possible to go to the outside web, and the parameters of their access point can't be changed. What type of plugins do you mean?
Hi
re your comment about using a separate dial up account to access the internet, I tried this approach and entered an ISPs details into connecections in the control panal, however even if I disconnect the "3" GPRS I can't get the phone to perform the dial up when you go into the internet. It asks you which connection to use but if you choose the dial up account to connect with it doesn't do a dial up and just doesn't find the site straight away.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong???

Once you're in the internet (although I hesitate to called 3's cr@p walled garden the internet) goto "Browse" on the menu then "Disconnect". When you then try to go to a web site, e.g. www.bbc.co.uk it will come up and ask you which connection to use in a drop down box. If if you pick a different connection to the 3-gprs one though it doesn't work.
I'm assuming you have also set up the alternative dial up connection? If not this is done via Control Panal, Connections tab, internet accounts.
By the way when I complained to 3 about the walled garden and what I regard as false, or at least mis-leading advertising they said that they planned to review their internet access in the new year whatever that means.
I have also written to BBCs Watchdog about it as I think they shold make it plain on their advertising and web site that you can't access any content outside their own sites. I mean it's a worse service than WAP on a 2G phone!
If anyone else wants to complain go to this link...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/contact/
If they get anough complaints perhaps they will get on the case and there's nothing like a little slot on the BBC's consumer program to make them change policy!
