I've now moved around some of the forums (see UIQ and development especially) as was the general consensus.
I'm now looking at Series 60 but wanted some opinions on the bext way to do this.
I'm inclined to have a divide by manufacturer (e.g. Sendo X stays on its own but future Sendo devices go in it too). My thinking here is there are quite a number of device customisation by manufacturer.
Nokia then needs to be split up more. Series 60 1.0 devices could go in one forum (i.e. merge 7650 into 3650), but I would be inclined to leave N-Gage as is.
Series 60 2.0 devices (i.e. 6600, 7610, 6630, 6260, 3230, 6670) could go in one but this might get crowded)....
Rafe: Have now done UIQ and S80
SwitchBlade: on the series 60.2 devices, I'm pondering if a great deal of posts between the 2 are duplication
Rafe: Yeah thats what I wondering, but looking at them there are a lot of specific I have a problem with x y z... Certainly moving together for older phones makes sense, but for newer ones?
SwitchBlade: mostly because I assume wth Nokia that they are all pretty much the same beyond the exterior
Rafe: Thats the problem they're not. The 6260 and 6630 are very different underneath hardware wise (far more so than say the 3650 and 6600)
Rafe: which are little different aside from software
SwitchBlade: ah, then best keep them sepperate for now
Rafe: Yeah I think we can merge into the older ones 3650 and 7650 so go down by one there. Am thinking the 6260 could join the 6670 and 7610 possibly.. maybe also the 6600 and have the division at 2G / 3G phones or series 60 feature pack 3.
Rafe: See what other think too.
SwitchBlade: possibly merge the ones that are similar hardware wise
Yes, I agree with the above!
S60 1.0 Devices should be grouped, N-Gage left alone, 2.0 devices should be merged with care due to different hardware aspects and possibly 2/3G divide.
Samsung/Sendo etc etc, should just be left on their own 😊
That's my $0.02
