MMC card questions for NGAGE Original

3 replies · 3,426 views · Started 12 January 2005

i have an original ngage not a qd

I was just wondering if its possible to play mp3s on an mmc card bigger than 128 megs? in the manual it says you can only play mp3s on 32,64 and 128 meg mmc cards. I'm just curious because i am planning on buying a 512 or 1 gig mmc. I just don't want to buy a 1 gig card and for some reason it can't read it.

I also want to know if its possible to transfer data onto an mmc card directly from an mmc drive on my computer. Can i just click and drag files onto the card like you would with a regular floppy and i can then access them on my ngage no problem?
Or do i need all that bluetooth, USB bullshit to get mp3s, video and other data such as cell phone games, images, apps etc.

It would be greatly appreciated if someone can help me out. Thanks

I am not 100% sure but I remeber reading that both the QD and the orig are capable of accepting cards upto 2gb but only certain brands.

As for using the MMC reader/drive on your computer, there should be no problems transfering files to/from the card because they are'nt encoded or anything speacialy for the N-Gage (QD doesnt support MP3 by default). So yeah bluetooth isn't really a requirement but it is handy.

Hope that helps.

I got a 1GB MMC from ebay. It's an A Data and works great on the original n-gage. mp3's were fine. However, I just got a Topram 2gb MMC and it works in the original n-gage, with everything but playing mp3's in the player that comes with it. Also, I can't record off the radio. Other than that, it's great. Sorry to hijack, but has anyone else had this problem yet? I like the original mp3 player better than ultramp3 for the stereo and quality. The mp3's do however work in ultramp3, if anyone is wondering.
