After searching and trying numerous solutions that I found here and somehwere on the web I finally got my 9210i to work with Windows XP Pro SP2 and Irda
This is what've done:
uninstalled PC suite
uninstalled default Irda port
uninstalled all versions of ircomm
disabled COM port in Device manager
enabled COM port in BIOS
enabled Irda port in BIOS
cleaned my registery with Winnertweak SE2
What i'm trying to say is that I got rid of everyhing i tried to install
before I got my 9210i my 6100 worked flawless with PC suite and Oxygen Phone Manager
First I reinstalled
Ircomm, do not use the default supplied with PC Suite, use the one from www.ircomm.de (try version 2, the beta)
-> rebooted
Reinstalled PC suite v2.11
-> rebooted
Then at the ircomm sys tray I selected Ircomm only, so that windows xp doesn't recognize your commnunicator as an epoc device
Then I selected COM4... your com port depends on what ircomm chose as com port... just look in your device manager by Ports
Then I fired up Irda on my communicator and now it's working like a charm
good luck and I hope this could be of some assistance
Mate,
I've been trying to use my 9210i as a modem for my laptop under XP as I did with Win 98. Having some success, but it keeps getting interuppted. I think it may be because the laptop still sees the commy as an epoc wireless device and is cutting the IR modem off. You mention:
Then at the ircomm sys tray I selected Ircomm only, so that windows xp doesn't recognize your commnunicator as an epoc device
How did you do this? I can't find anything like this option.
Cheers for your time,
Jim
Thanks for your advice.
Unfortunately www.ircomm.de seems to be down. Is the software available elsewhere?
I have had nothing but problems with sync contacts with the 9210i. Nokia says I have too many contacts (1400) which is cause of a memory problem and sync problem. I will try one last time using your suggestion, but if I cannot get all my contacts in the phone it might be time for the 9210i to visit the rubbish bin.
Look forward to you reply.

Hi
It sounds like you've been through what I am going through. I have managed to get my new laptop (no serial port) to connect to my 9210i and I can even backup files but I cannot sync or unify. It comes up with an error message which says 'Failed to open Outlook'. In browing various troubleshooting sites, I found a reference to IMAP4 and basically got the impression that I would never get my sync to work. Have you managed to overcome this one?
