I have a 9210e which runs 3.62.

Every thing has been perfect until yesturday. When I opened the PDA the machine had hung.

I rebooted, once the dek top had loaded, I recived a message

Out of memory

The machine now reguarly locks up.

Any ideas?

Ashby

Have you tried keeping the battery out for 20 seconds, or booting without your SIM card or MMC inserted?
Otherwise you could try formatting your machine or deleting the ini files on bootup?
Format is Ctrl-Shift-F during boot, and deleting the ini files is Ctrl-Shift-I during boot. I'd recommend the latter first though😉

Hi,

You could try to format your device (9210 +MMC) and reinstalling all data sis files. Anyway it seems like a problem between firmware and device.
If formating doesnt help, perhaps you could try to upgrade to another firmware or degrade to 3.54. Who knows!

Regards

I have just open the device (it has been on for a few hours) and I eror message was on the screen

"Cannot access application memory"

Hs anyone else seen this?

Ashby

BTW, Flipside, I have formatted my device sometime, and I have never deleted the ini files. Must I do it? What happens if I dont delete them?

Regards

PS Ashby, format your 9210, then well see.

I had trouble with memory and tried deleting the ini files, this reset my apps to their default settings, but for some reason (I don't know how or why it works), it cleared up the memory and stopped the crashing. If you format the device it will have the same effect as all the ini files would be lost in the format.

I cannot remember the exact reason or problems that I was having that I used that to solve. But from what I've read I think some boot problems may be caused corrupt ini files, and so erasing them can cause boot problems to go without a format.

hey you are right. in the last couple of days my ph. was hanging almost every time i opened it. i got so frustrated i wanted to throw the phone away.
i deleted the ini files & it reset everything to the default.
now the phone seems to run ok so far but the links on my desk suddenly dont show (as if the ph does not recognise the MMC) & then it automatically does a screen refresh(so to speak) & the links are back, i kept it open & kept looking at the desk. my phone keeps doing that. maybe thats y its been hanging so much.

I am going to format it 2, but im fed up to doing that too..

im running 3.54 & i think the problem is with colors. lets see.

ciao

gaurav

I have seen this error before but the firmware was 3.18 and the support site just upgraded it to 3.62 and now it is fine.

Glad to have been of help mate, I hope Colours is your problem, then you'll have more of an idea what to do.

Flipside

thanks man. i have not loaded colors now but the problem yet persists,it hangs so often that i cannot use the phone. i'm guessing its an OS problem, will send it to nokia to upgrade it to 3.62(actually i was waiting for the 4.11) 7 then load everything again.
But the problem of the phone suddenly not reading the MMC is yet there. Could that be a hardware problem?

Am planning to buy a Revo+ or palm & a nokia 6210/6310. maybe that would be a more powerfull solution.

lets see

Just an additional possibility, I had problems a while back with software links disappearing from my desktop etc., it turned out to be an intermittant connection with my MMC card. Removed it, gave contacts a good wipe and reinserted it and the problem seamed to go away.

I had a 6210 before getting my 9210, and was planning on doing the same thing, up until I was offered the 9210 at a good price, and seeing as it was smaller than the Psion I felt the 2 combined would save me a lot of pocket space.
Can't vouch for the Psion, but the 6210 is a lovely phone, although a bitch to change the covers on.

Flipside

you are right on that one. After doing a lot of research i have decided that i am going to buy the nokia 6210 & the palm m505.
It really will save a lot of pocket space & when i go clubbing, i ned to carry the 6210 only. the 6210 has a good memory for all the contacts i need.
I might or might not sell the 9210, but im definatly bidding farewell to the nokia 9210.
Maybe when the 9210i is available with improved useability, maybe i'll get back to it. but the combination of the palm & the 6210 is going to be definately a better & more powerfull.

Also has anyone used the sony clie. personally which would you prefer, the palm m505 or the sony clie?

gaurav

I used to have a 8210 with a psion revo first, then the mx5 for a while. It's ok being able to take the phone and leave the psion if you don't need the two, but I had many more problems with that set up than i've had with my 9210. Having to keep perfectly still so you don't lose i.r. contact is one annoyance, especially if you don't have a table handy (and the idea is that you use it away from the office!). If you think the memory on the 9210 is bad you will get a shock with the revo, it can't be upgraded from 16meg. And there is no light at all on the revo, it has a high contrast screen which is better than the mx5 but absolutely useless once the sun goes down (we are using it away from the office remember!). Internet use with either of these can be a hit and miss affair. Choose your weapon, but choose it wisely!! User posted image

Well I used to use a 9210 with my IBM Thinkpad (a little larger than a PDA), to do the job and had no problems, but I found as I rely a lot on the abilities of my 9210 to check e-mails and plan my life in the calender app, that is makes sense carrying that round to having a sepperate PDA and phone which would inevitably take up more space (or us my old option, a 15" diagonal laptop that needs a rucksack to move is a bit much, but then I did take it everywhere, mostly, anyway)

Nah, 9210 is the dogs.

Flipside

thanks for the advise. anyways ive sold my 9210 now & am buying the nokia 6210 & the palm m505.

atleast i wont get those frustrating hang up's anymore.

any good site for palm software? User posted image anyone?
