How long for the next firmware update?

When will the next firmware update be available? And which languages are going to be first?

(9 months left with my current contract aaaaaarrrgghh ) :frown:

Probably not that far away. So far, Sendo have released them at roughly 2 - 3 month intervalls, and it's now 2 months since the last release. (as it officially came out in November, although some versions weren't available immediately)

Any will ANY firmware update EVER be available for Vodafone customers (or is there a way we can use firmware for other carriers?). Surely Vodafone customers are not being abandoned indefinitely???

Got this useful (as a chocolate fireguard) from Sendo about the vodafone firmware update...

"Unfortunately we cannot provide an accurate timescale. Sendo will however be working closely with operators/distributors to gain approval as soon as possible.

When the new firmware is available it will be posted on our website on http://www.sendo.com/smartphones/downloads.asp"

Great eh?

So, excuse my ignorance, is it not just a matter of downloading the updated firmware from sendo? Is this process different for Vodafone customers?

Thanks

Simon

The process is the same for all the resellers / carriers... I think 😊

I had to wait longer than everyone due to my Spanish carrier (Telefonica-Movistar). The firmware release must be accepted by the one who sell it, and ones takes more time than others.
Sendo sometimes must be chasing them very closer to make them approve the new versions.
Im sure Vodafone users will get the updated firmware.... the problem is if vodafone itself cares about "wasting" time approving the new release. 😞

Not just yet. I've recenly heard that there's a lot more fixes and enhancements which the chaps at Sendo have pushed to be included in the next firmware, so it's taking longer to test / finalise than the previous ones did...

Rest assured though that the next release will be good 😊 The development of the X2 is actually heping with the ongoing firmware development of the X 😊

maybe the mp3 problem will be solved
maybe my GPRS won't break anymore
maybe people will understand me on the phone
maybe my calls won't go to voicemail anymore
maybe i will have a network
maybe programs won't give errors anymore
maybe smartmovie will work correctly without stuttering and sound clicks...
maybe psyloc software will work

and MAYBE, just maybe the firmware will come out before this summer

who knows ! 😉

Getting Psiloc software to work might be a bit harder than this...

Some of it works fine, but a lot of their software just does very wierd things, which aren't even consistent accross installs...

I think the main problem here is that Psiloc don't seem to be interested in sorting out the problems 😞

Yeah exactly, PSILOC software works flawlessly on all other Symbian device than the Sendo X, and PSILOC have recieved a lot of rewards for their software...

But hey, let's blame PSILOC for the Sendo X not being compatible!

Maybe they do not know how to write proper Symbian coded software???

OK Messus - you tell me why they've never replied to any of my very detailed problem description emails to them. I've even talked to them face to face at Symbian shows, and they are not interested in helping fix things for the X.

Other companies software works, so you can't generalise and blame the phone alone!

that's not true,

smartmovie also DOES NOT work properly, and the people from lonelycat software have tried to fix it, and even with support from sendo itself, it just can't seem to get working. Even their mp3 player doesn't work on the X, also after support from sendo in a try to get it work!

TOMTOM navigator: doesn't work
wayfinder: blocks easily, gprs drops, multitasking impossible etc...

Can somebody help me to access the video buffer address in Symbian 8.1b, similar to the writting on screen by directly accessing at address 0XB8000 in C Language.
you may reply also to [email protected]

Actually, Psiloc have responded to every one of my emails, albeit after 1-2 day intervals, and I eventually lost interest. Granted, this was over the Christmas/New Year hols . . Much as I like my X, it's one of the buggiest phones I've had the pleasure to own..

Psiloc responded to my emails too. Even sent me a new version of the code (List Manager) which worked.

Maybe its worth me trying to get them to fix the problems I've had then...
