Greetings new to the forum...tried searching for this but could not find answer, is there a way to lock phone so that to unlock the lock code must be entered?
Currently I push Left Soft + * and it locks keys but to unlock one just pushes Left SOft and *
I do have a code entered in security settings...lock code.
on my old Motoroloa V600, when keypad was locked one had to enter in unlock code to access device.
One additonal note...I am talking about a keystroke manual lock here not auto-lock.
Any help is appreciated...thanks.
Jason
I think that after some time the manual lock and the autolock, they work together.
I you see a frame with a keyhole on it, it means that the autolock ia energised.
Press the left top softkey, the light comes up and a little window opens below the keyhole. Enter your secret number and press the navication key at the center. 😊
goto settings>security>phone and sim>autolockperiod> set this as 1 minute, type '1' and after a minute ur keypad will lock itself and the lockcode will have to be entered to access ur device 😊 the default lock code is 12345 as far as i remember.. hope i've helped 😊

Thanks Zainman I guess that is as close as to an immediate keystroke lock as I am going to get....have a good one.

:icon14: Hi, Jason,
ZAINMAN, tells you exactly what to do, but I will try to make the procedure step by step, so you will understand it.
go to
1.Menu
2.settings
3.phone & sim
4.schroll down toAutolock Period
5.Press Options
6.select User Defined
7.Enter the time (From 1-999 minutes)
8.Press O.K.
9.Enter your secret number(Lock Code)
10. Press O.K.
The telephone will be LOCKED only, AFTER the time you entered, expires,
and you must enter the code number you defined, to Unlock it.
If you have done all this maybe you entered too many minutes.
If you want to avoid using the manual lock, (top left soft key & *)
Then i minute for lock period is reasonable.

There is a difference between the keylock/phone lock provided in 7610 (and other nokia phones) and keyguard (keypad lock). The keylock/phone lock as akylas and zainman have given you locks the entire phone and is more a security measure. This locks your entire phone and it will not start without the code. (I do not know why I do not use this feature - I should start). If you forget the code, bye bye data, you have to flash the phone at nsc.
The keyguard is manually achieved by pressing menu and then * key and only locks the keypad so that even if a key gets pressed accidentally in your pocket, etc. nothing happens. You can simply re-activate the keypad by pressing menu and * again. Now in s60 phones like 7610, nokia has not provided the auto keyguard lock feature, but there are a few freeware programs that do this for you, like autolock, jjkeylock, etc.

that is what ntraven asked for sandeep.. and that is what i gave him.. i use this feature when i am out with friends so that they dont crash into stuff especially my MSN password.. for other things like media i use smart crypto and SMSguard for sms
