7650 "Bluetooth System Error"

Whenever I go to Bluetooth on my 7650, it always brings up " ! System Error", and never gets further than that. I've tried using the "code" to show the bluetooth/bluetooth device address, and I just get ": ". Nothing else, just a colon, and blank space.

Now, this can't be good-the thing I don't get is the bloke who sold it to me restored it to defaults before he gave it to me, and removed a load of programs he installed. He swears the Bluetooth worked before-I believe that, he's a gadget fiend.

His removal method messed a few things up, so I backed up the 7650 and reformatted it totally, thinking "all the code was OK, it's in ROM, it MUST restore totally and work"-yet, it still doesn't do bluetooth?

Now, what I don't get is this: If the OS is in Flash ROM, and worked once, and can't be altered without Nokia kit, then HOW THE HELL can it NOT go back to operational status after a reformat? Does the reformat miss things? If it worked once, it MUST be able to do it again, surely?

The Version of the OS is: V 3.16, 15-08-02, NHL-2NA..I've heard a reflash could fix it with a later firmware, but..why can't this one do it if it did originally?

the only solution i know to a bluetooth system error is 'get ur phone replaced' and since ur phone is a second-hand device i can swear that IF u havent seen the bluetooth work urself, that person is lying

Possible...but unlikely. He really liked the phone! Bluetooth is nothing major for me, it's just a bit of an irritation. There is another 7650 in the building, and that one works great! I need to look at it and see what firmware we're on there.

I just don't see from a technical point of view why a restore/reformat doesn't fix it, when surely to god it MUST have worked before it was let out of the factory originally!

It's like saying "You can reinstall Windows XP, but if you do, you'll never be able to use a mouse again".

Can anyone shed any light on this? It seems daft to me.

krowlands.. it happend to my friend too and he also fooled another guy by doing exactly what the person did to u.. and if u dont believe me u can search the forum.. there is absolutely no cure for bluetooth system error except replacement.. it cannot be fixed as i have read on this forum. i think the phone u have bought might also not be under warranty.. right? so u cant get it replaced.. the person has fooled u IMO
