I'm new to here so hi to everyone!
I'm thinking of buying a new phone and with the offering almost too much to handle, i'm doing some research (for the past 3 months).
I've taken notice the Sendo X. Not a whole lot of user opinions can be found on the web exept this forum right here.
So can you people share honest opinions about this rather exotic phone. What are the biggest problems and best sides of the phone?
Also, I'm from Estonia (yes, Europe, EU) and if i decide to buy it, I need to do that online. that's fine as long as i can trust the thing 100%. No Sendo Services are here in Estonia so that's a bit of a concern.
And finally, to put it short. Comparison to SE K500i (yes i know it's not Symbian, but the price range is about the same - it's my other pick)
thanx to everyone!
If you are to choose between K500i and X, I would have chose the X, why? Because:
- you get more value for the money through:
x mp3 player
x MMC and SD-card capability
x bigger screen
x symbian
x stereo speakers with good sound intensity
x not many people have the X
x you can upgrade the software yourself
x sync with outlook
But the problem I had with it was:
- the delay of 1-2 second between two songs listening to mp3
- the thickness of it
That's why I choose the SX1 in stead, and because the SX1 is cheaper.
I love my sendo x. It has its problems but I still like it alot. It has a different style than other phones and its made by a really small company that cares about us lol. It sounds funny, but look at the frequent updates (nearly every 2 months) they put out. Most companies don't put out any updates even if they are needed. Although the software is buggy, I don't have any problems with the latest firmware (except the battery meter seems to be incorrect). I would recommend it if the person would be comfortable using a smartphone (not just any phone, its more complicated) and if they need the extra features if offers.
Yeh I would reccommend it. I got a 1GB SD Card in there and store lots of comedy movies and music and stuff. Personally I think most of the stuff people post on here about it being bad is a load of rubbish. I mean it does have some bugs (that are being fixed in newer FW versions) but they are easily livable with.
Hopefully OggPlay will be working soon and that will make it a kick ass fone, coz the built in MP3 player is not that great TBH - although it does the job.
I would prefer the X to the K500i any day.
The 'phone cannot take incoming calls if the MP3 player is playing. Sendo are aware of this problem and say it will be fixed in a future firmware update but do not say when.
Myself, I will not buy the phone until they have fixed it. Don't forget what the main function of a mobile phone is for - to make and receive phone calls! Once this is fixed it will be a very good rich featured phone.

To clarify this statement. The phone should stop the MP3 player so that the incoming call can be received. This does not happen and the call is missed.

To clarify
your statement...
There is a known bug, which is OPPERATOR DEPENDANT, whereby the phone may not act correctly when receiving a call while an MP3 is being played. This does not happen on all handsets, nor does it happen all the time!
Sendo DO know about this, and thanks to their ongoing testing and some help by people on these forums (for example, me - I sent them my phone which does this so they could investigate it), they are working on fixes which will be released as soon as they're ready.
We all know a new firmware is coming, which will be *at least* release 69, and we know it contains fixes for some issues, one of which is the SMS counter; so it's reasonable to expect it to also contain some more fixes for the MP3 problem.
I would certainly have no problem recommending the X. I've had mine since mid October and I haven't had a single bug or problem with it. It does everything it promises, and I'm really glad I didn't go for the SX1 instead. The X gets a lot of complaints here in this forum, but remember, people are more likely to voice their opinions only when they've had difficulties with their handsets.
Also, I wouldn't worry too much about buying online. I got mine unlocked and on a Vodafone contract at www.expansys.co.uk and the whole process was, thankfully, a breeze. I'd definitely recommend against getting a specific operator branded one if at all possible. (it usually seems to be these people who are encountering problems with theirs - not sure about this though so don't take my word for it!).
The only real problem as far as I can see with the X (and it's not even a problem with the X itself!) is just some oversights on the part of Sendo in the firmware. A perfect example of this is the alarm function, which needs to be radically expanded in the next update. There are others too, like the SMS counter problem (very minor), and general lack of compatibility with some Symbian software, but Sendo are working on these so it won't be the case forever.
Plus, and it can't be overstated, VERY few people have the X, so it does really stand out, which in today's over-bloated mobile phone market is a real breath of fresh air. (we all like to be different, don't we? 😉 )
Even now, I'd still have the X over anything else out there. But then maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones......
Before I bought my sendo x i was looking at the sx1 and the nokia 6260 (flip symbian). The 6260 was too big for a flip phone, actually its gigantic (i'm only 5'6" and my hands aren't masssive lol) and the SX1 doesn't look as "cool"/nice as the sendo. I don't have the mp3 player issue as most of you do.
Yeah I am aware too that the MP3 / receiving call issue will be fixed. I just can't wait for them to release the fix so I can buy this phone!!!! This 'phone has everything. It's just that the release quality is a little bit 'beta'. Seems like customers have been doing beta testing for this phone. But hey it's cutting edge technology. Even my trusty old Nokia 3210 and my 3310 very very occasionally drop incoming calls., but this seems more mechanical when I'm rummaging for them in my pocket to answer the call. But still: nothings perfect.
I particularly like the SD card facility: I've got a digital camera and DAB radio that use these too so it's great to not have to buy separate storage media for each.
