VPN on the 6630

Can anyone offer support on setting up the VPN, or direct me in the right direction? The Nokia website does not really offer support, nor the symbian - which talks about the 6630 as an up and coming model.
The limited help topic on the phone is pretty useless....
Setting up a VPN on a windows based PDA is very straight forwards in comparison.. (IPAQ 5550)
Thx

I believe the software cd that comes with the phone has the VPN software user's manual in pdf format.

the manual which comes with the Phone (PDF) does not cover the VPN subject - strange when I have just d/loaded the VPN client from the nokia website - but it comes with no support of how to set it up

I'm afraid there's a hurdle still to overcome. The hard part is described in the aforementioned PDF on page 7; you need a VPN policy server. That means you'd have to have a Nokia Policy Server installed. It comes with a Nokia/Firewall-1 VPN gateway. I don't know of any other way to get it.

What is VPN exactly and what can you do with your phonew with it?
(I know Virtual Private Network, just wonder what can be done with VPN on a phone. I still don't own a 6630)

I want to use putty so that i can get a telnet connection to our unix box at work.
However VPN seems a bit confusing and extra cost if i have to buy a new firewall.
Are there any dialup programs for 6630 that would let me dial in to a modem directly connected to unix box??

Also can anyone tell me best emulator for gameboy games??

Cheers

Hy Pete!

You don't really need VPN for putty. Here is your .sis. I used it on 3650 and 6600; it's a beautiful app.! Enjoy!

P.S.: I think there is a new version somwhere, I can't find in my PC...

I am sorry! I read that it's not allowed posting apps. If the moderator deletes the attach, you can search for the app on sourceforge.net, it's an open source app.

onutz,

I already have a copy of putty but how can i telnet to my place of work dont i need a dialup application or something??

Baasically i want program that will dial in to a modem that is attached directly to a unix box thus giving me a connection to my server...

Pete

You have 2 options: GPRS - you don't need a dial up modem, or data transfer: this will require a modem app. Putty app is using GPRS and is quite reliable on security. There are some other app on sourceforge, go & see!
