Our ministry of Telecommunication anounced today that on Romania Market 4 licences for 3G operators will be opened on a tender basis.
We have 2 GSM 900, 1 GSM 1800 and 1 CDMA operators at this moment.

UK have 5 licensees who paid something stupid like �270 billion for them.
And those debts of 270 gazillion are going to be what stops a decent 3G network in the UK. O2 are in a useless strategic position (cf El Reg), T-Mobile and Vodafone have debt across the board as they absorb international auctions left right nad centre, Orange has lost it's way and 3 (Hutchinson Telecom) don;t even have a GSM network to start with!
These auctions are the worst bloody thing to happen to the mobile industry.
IMO.
As I have understood from someone inside 3G Industry, the 3G experiment in Europe and worldwide was not a big hit
