Error Message when receiving text messages

15 replies · 6,867 views · Started 25 January 2005

Occasionally I get an error message when I receive a text message instead of an alert. The error message is 'app. closed ncnlist'. Once I get this error message my phone no longer does anything when I receive a text message. It is most infuriating as I keep missing when people send me text messages, this evening I missed a really important one asking from my girlfriend asking me to call her.

I have tried quitting all applications, making sure I exit messaging... But nothing changes this. The problem occurs more than it doesn't it.

I have tried rebooting my phone, it doesn't seem to solve the problem either.

Anyone have any pointers?

its common with everyone buddy.. i get it all the time with my 7610.. like just now.. nothing happend when i received a message, not even the backlight turns on! i reboot the phone and it gets okay.. only for one more message before it happens again! it really is very frustrating but what to do? recently i did install a few appications after which i am suspecting that these sort of errors have incrreased like ,app closd main, app closed ncnlist, app closd blah blah.. loads of em man!

Theres this thing i read in some other forum about the APP CLOSED MAIN problem.

They Said to delete the FirstBoot.dat in System \ Boot data directory
Turn the phone on without the mmc
Turn off, then on again with the MMC.

If you're up to it try it. In my experience, it didnt work and it will prompt u for new time and date, Message location will change from MMC to Phone memory, Profile config deleted etc. Not that harmful just reseted some configurations, but some claims it works.

:icon4: Again Proceed with caution.

Does this delete text messages and e-mails? I have a few e-mails and text messages that I want to keep and I cannot find a way of moving them from the phone memory to the memory card.

u can move ur emails and messages by going to menu>messaging>message settings>other> click on change message memory and it will ask u if u want to copy the messages to the mmc

erm i don't have that option. I only have 'Save Sent Messages (yes or no)' and 'No. of saved msgs. (20)'.

the 6260 has a hot swap mmc so doesnt give the option to save messages to the mmc.

there is a small program uploaded in this forum by than_bk (i think) that allows the inbox to be moved to the mmc.

Have you installed one too many 3rd party software, particularly those that interacts with calls/messages? Try uninstalling some apps, and if all fails, try hard reset

I have installed Psiloc World Traveller & irRemote, FExplorer and Agile Messenger. A couple of third party themes which I should remove because I don't actually use them. But thats all I have installed.

since i installed world traveller my phone is also giving me alot of problems,.. i guess i will remove it.. now im sure it was doing it! i hate psiloc! :@

Damnit... I use World Traveller a lot, and the main reason why I bought it was because it gave me reoccurring alarms (i.e. my alarm only goes off during the week). I think both you and I should contact them. Anyone else having the same problems have World Traveller Installed?

rowland u can use handyclock for multiple alarms.. try getting world clock but i personally dont like psilocs applications, always cause problems!

Just to report, I have spent a while without world traveller, and then I decided to re-install it to make it a fair test. However I had trouble re-installing the application. So I contacted Psiloc, they were very helpful and even sent me a copy of World Traveller (and IrRemote which I had a previous copy of). I followed their instructions and installed the copy of World Traveller and IrRemote. I haven't had the problem since, and the new version of IrRemote is so much cooler than the previous version.

So to recap, if anyone else is having the same problem as I was, contact Psiloc and ensure that you have the latest/correct version for your phone.
