Please... can anybody help me here? I had a 9500 which I lost, I've replaced it with a 9300 but cannot find a way to get the contacts from the 9500 backup onto the 9300. I've changed the name of the .NFB file to look like a 9300 one but it doesn't fool it, as it notifys me that this backup is a different phone model.
Cheers for any help
Does it give you an option of selecting Continue when it says its a different backup from another phone?
Hi,
I do not really understand your problem.
I have had a 9500 and replaced it with a 9300 (I dont need the camera and the wifi so I am happy about the small dimensions of the 9300...)
I made a full backup from the 9500 to the MMC-Card and after this I restored it to the new 9300 - eveything went well: every contact, every calendar entry, every internet connection defaults and every installed program were restored to the 9300 without any error.
Bye

I think I'm right in saying when you do an internal backup (ie to MMC) the data files are backed up as individual files. When you back up to the PC it creates a .NFB file which contains all the data files. I can't extract the files from this and was hoping someone could tell me if it's possible or if there's a workaround.
Cheers
Hi,
uhpps - sorry, now I understand (hmh, Im from Germany...)
As I told you, the internal restore via storage card was no problem.
If I understand it right the restore from the PC backup use another "file system" and maybe you are right that this will be not working between different units (9300 and 9500).
But you can at the minimum restore your contacts and time schedules from the calendar via Microsoft Outlook if you had prefv. synchr. this items.
Good luck

unfortunately I don' synch phone with PC just backup :frown:
Hi,
I think the following procedure will work to get your 9500 Backup from the PC to your new 9300 if you know a friend who has the 9500:
1. Copy the backup file from your PC to a disk or cdrom
2. Find a friend who has the 9500
3. Your friend copies your files from the disk to his PC
4. your friend makes a full backup from his 9500 to the MMC Storage card
5. Connect the 9500 to the PC
6. Restore YOUR files from the pc to the 9500
7. Make a full backup from the 9500 to the MMC Card
8. Insert the MMC Card with the Backup file to your 9300
9. Make a full restore to your 9300
Bye

Thanks Klaus, I did try to think of a way to get my hands on a 9500 I could restore to but I can't think of a source. I can't even ask a shop as a favour as there is a lot of sensitive data in my files that I could trust to let go.
I spoke to a geek guy at Nokia today also, he said 'there's no way' to get the data from the file onto a 9300.
Thanks again for all your ideas though.
