Installing WAV files as ringtones...

Hi -

Another newbie question here...

I have never owned a Symbian phone until yesterday, but I've installed WAV files in Pocket PC phones as well as my Treo 650...

I'd like to WAV files as ringers in my new 9500, but before I do I was curious about the process. I realize I need to synch it with my PC - but is it as simple as dragging the WAV files to a particular folder?

The reason I'm not throwing caution to the wind is that my PC is pretty full, and if it seems like too big a job I'll simply refrain from setting up a connection between the PC and the 9500 until I can spend some time backing up data.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Dead easy, connect the 9500 to the PC, drag and drop the wav file to the 9500 probably somewhere like c:/My files/Sound Clips/ then go to control panel, select the profiles option and edit/create a new profile to use your wav file as the ring tone.

You can also email the wav-files to yourself, either over WLAN, GPRS or GSM *shrug*, just save the file somewhere suitable on the device, and then select it in the profile.

Thank you both -

You guys are the best - it works!

Last night I broke down and installed the PC software on my computer. That didn't go very smoothly, and barely worked. I'd get trapped in a "Synchronization Failed" loop several times. When it finally did synch my Outlook Contacts kept re-synching. I wound up having to unplug the 9500, pull out the batter and the SIM card...etc.

Before I did, however, I put several WAV files in the "My Tones" folder on the phone. When I went to look at the phone (unplugged from the PC) I couldn't find them.

Making a new profile did the trick, as I was able to poke around the folders. Now, to find out how to assign these WAV files to other people...

Thanks again!
