6600 v 6630: Speed?

😃 6630 is much faster than 6600,or 7610/6670 or any other Nokia Series 60 device 😃 faster CPU,more memory,and so on... 😃

i was a 6600 user for over a yr & thought it was an excellent phone but it is painfully slow compared to my 6630! even when using my 6630 on a 2G network to compare the two it beats my 6600 hands down and will be on a 2nd web page before my 6600 has connected sometimes!!

u can speed up yr 6600 by ammending yr log duration to 1 day, u shouldnt be disappointed by the speed of yr 6630 esp on when browsing using 3G! 😃

Everything in the 6630 is faster.
Its menus open faster, looking in device manager the list is populated much faster.

I'm still confused about exactly how much faster 3G is compared to GPRS, and I also don't understand whether my current GPRS package (on Orange ) is compatible with their 3G offering. In other words, is 3G the natural successor to GPRS or is it completely different? Do your 3G settings mirror your GPRS settings?

you should search and learn about technologies first and than ask,but today is a nice day and here it is 😃
3G is three times faster than GPRS.i will try to do it as simple as possible.there are these generations of networks:1G-NMT,2G-GSM,2.5G-GPRS,2.75G-EDGE,3G-W-CDMA/UMTS/ and some other standards3,5G-HSDPA mayb WIMAX will be the 4G 😃
GPRS is an data upgrade of the GSM network,situation with EDGE is the same,3G is a completely new standard if we compare it with GSM,its working on different frequences and dont need another data upgrade for surfing the web and wap.But of course there is an upgrade for existing UMTS networks,its called HSDPA,but it only helps to download with higher speed.But in GSM without GPRS/EDGE you can only download with CSD,or HSCSD which is very very slow and expensive because you pay for the time conneted and not for the Kb of dowloaded items 😃

in real you will be happy with for upload 60 kb/s and download 350kb/s,but it can be very different from country to country and operator to operator... one thing is the maximum theoretical speed /it can be 2MB/s is the case of UMTS and the other thing is the real speed suported by the operators... for example in Polland the average speed is about 51KB/s 😃
but if you are changing GPRS connection to UMTS you will feel the difference 😉

Well about the speed.... downloading stuff with 3G is fast. Downloaded a 400kb file in no time. The processor speed of the 6630 is 220Mhz :icon4: , as far as I know faster than any phone excisting today and its ram will be good too. All pages open very quickly! The 6630 can do a lot more than your 6600 and it can do it much quicker.

its equipped with very fast processor and of course,its very fast in Java MIDP and one of the best smartphones and in Series 60 category its simply the best 😃

Sounds really brilliant. In the UK (correct me if I'm wrong) 3G is still in development. In fact it sounds as though it's in beta and there are major latency problems...but I'll reserve judgement until I get my grubby paws on the 6630. From what you've all told me, the 6630 sounds an awesome phone. One final question, looking through the manual (PDF online) I can't any mention of it having a vibrate/buzzing function...(so you can have it vibrate instead of ringing, when in meetings etc). Any idea?

i didnt use in my 6630,but there is an buzzzzz function 😃 😃 and there is an fuction:you can set an SMS in some profiles which will be send if you are not able to answer the call 😃 dont hasitate,just go and buy... after 2 months ans some weeks of using this phone iam really impressed and satisfied 😃

aaaaand ehm.... i dont live in the UK,but as i know the 3G was comercially launched by T-Mobile,Vodafone,Orange ant shortly O2 ... and its not in beta phase... 😃

yes,the e-mail client was updates,its supporting more fatures now... but iam noy able to write you about SSL at the moment.. maybe there is an table of features and possibilities of the client,but i cant remember where i saw this 😃

i am also impressed and very satisfied with the 6630 😃 i am on the vodafone 3G network and although it might be early days i have not had any problems 😃 😃

6600 CPU speed is 104mhz the 6630 is 220mhz yes its a lot faster both in reality and in feel 😉

i use gmail on my 6630. Works fine so far. 😊

iam on GSM only,but never mind iam very happy with this devices,which is the best i ever bought 😃 but still waiting for 3G in my country 🙄

The email client is better featured, but I'd recommend using Profimail from here: http://www.lonelycatgames.com/mobile/profimail/profimail.html

It's a fantastic email client that supports multiple folders and mailboxes, brilliant attachment support (Word, HTML, .jpg/.gif, can read zip files), full HTML message support and excellent small anti-aliased text rendering meaning you get about 15 lines of text on screen at once :icon14:

And as has already been said, the 6630 is far faster than any other Series 60 phone. Menus pop up instantly, and the extra speed comes in especially handy when playing games 😉

I actually bought Profimail a few weeks ago, funnily enough. Never got on with it - it'll probably work better on the 6630 (faster, anyway)
