Language flashing the Nokia 6620

7 replies · 2,530 views · Started 01 February 2005

Hi, is it possible to flash the US-based Nokia 6620
with e.g. norwegian (scandinavian) language?

I mean, if the Nokia 6620 could use the same language
file as the Nokia 6600 shouldn't this be possible?

I would like to buy this phone from the US since the
Nokia 6600 is lacking Stereo sound.

If it is possible, where can I have it done, or how do I do it?
(what flash-box do I need etc.??)

Thanx 😊

There are no individual language files, and the 6620 cannot use firmware ROM images made for the 6600. Even if the are similar in appearance, they are different.

And as the 6620 is for the North American market only (USA & Canada), you can probably only find English/Spanish/French languages for it, at most.

If you want a Series 60 phone with stereo sound in Norwegian, consider a 6630 (it has everything a 6620 has + more): http://www.nokia.no/phones/6630/

The only difrents is the popport support (stereo out on head set, usb) on the 6620, loudspeaker is the same, poor mono sound...
maybe is better to choose 7610 or even better 6630 which have damn good sound trough loudspeaker and much, much more... :icon14:

If u buy some DCT4 box (Neelix, Prodigy, Cheap china flasher), u will get all neccesery support with them inclouding all avilable firmwares and language pack.

But..

Question is u really need that, it is expencive equipment for profesional use!?
maybe is better solution to look for local unlocker with mentioned equipment.

Hope this help

Most definitely no. The 6620 may appear to resemble the 6600, but it is different hardware. There is no way whatsoever that 6600 firmware ROM image files can be flashed to a 6620.

No doubt about that, poppotr and usb support is enough for incompatibility in firmware version, but some freaking is possible for sure, if u know what are u doing offcourse...

I am not an expert on this, but I have understood from different pages that the language files are separate from the firmware file itself.

And no, I do not want the 6630 as I think it is way too much money to pay for that ugly phone with very limited memory-card support!!!
