Anyone tried 'crossing out' a to-do list entry that has a repeat on it? In my case the entry was deleted but worse still when I went to the built-in calender file and tried to view my to-do list I got an error telling me the to-do data cannot be found and would not let me use the to-do list.
I've had to restore a backup to get my proper calender file back working.
Powerdesk began to groan today about Agendaserver Err 15 repeatedly every time when I returned to it from some another application. Only booting helped to get rid of it... so far.
...and Powerdesk's Today view's interface is lousy compared to native calendar.
I bought Powerdesk only because of its keyboard shortcuts - which can probably be replaced with Macro5 keyboard program, which is currently being ported across to the 9500. Watch www.freepoc.org.
ohh lovely Macro5, my most used utility on the Psion5mx all those years ago.
I must admit I was very dissapointed with Powerdesk, you couldn't even jump from one item to another by pressing the appropriate alpha, you can even do this on the built in desktop. I also agree with the today view...it seems pretty pointless app if it doesn't do what you can't already do for free.
I was hoping the zoom would go much smaller too, this is a problem for me on the built-in calendar also.

Agreed, and I've contacted the author about it (among other things), so hopefully their soon to be released update will remedy this.
Otherwise I love this app. The keyboard shortcuts and the task manager/task switcher is what makes this app so great, IMO.
Hi all
I like the today screen, but agree it's annoying you can't use alpha menu short cuts.
What i am having problems with though is using Notes - they are not in the 'New..' menu option and I can't seem to find them in the application list under 'New Item>Application Shortcut' - Any ideas?
Also How can you (cut and paste?) get existing notes from the built in Desk to Power desk?
Thanks
Jago
The best way to get existing notes from the desk to powerdesk is to copy the text (not the file itself), create a new note in Powerdesk, and paste the text there again.

Thanks Delta
But I can't create any notes in Pwerdesk!
How do you do create notes if they are not in the 'New..' menu or the application list for short cuts?

SymbianWare have confirmed that it's one of the things they've fixed in the update - due for release in a day or two.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean here... You have the 'Write note' option on the right side panel...

I cannot find an easy way to do this. I guess you just have to copy the content of each note and paste it in a new note in PD.

Thanks for the tips guys = got it sorted !
Good to hear that Symbianware are on the ball and releasing an update (bug fix?!) so soon!
Cheers

PowerDesk has now been updated to v.2.1 with the following fixes/changes:
What's new in v.2.1:- Critic problem fix: problem with crossing out repeating to-do entries in PowerDesk fixed. Now when to-do entry is marked as crossed out its repetition is removed .
- PowerDesk no longer makes problems with device backup.
- Speed of poping up to foreground for both Desk and Today view is highly increased (on devices that have quite many events/tasks/messages). Now if you have lost tasks/events/messages etc it's not needed to switch off Today Pane in order to increase speed.
- Closing/killing Phone application by Taskman is prevented
- Task switcher speed is increased.
- Problem with cancelling 'close all exception list' dialog fixed.
- Call dialling from contact card and speed dials when number contains bracket fixed .
- Navigation in Desk view and TaskMan is increased. Now it's possible to navigate between apps/folders by pressing the first letter in the name of that app/folder.
- Alarm icon is shown correctly now in today view with entries that have alarm assigned.
- If target entry is repeating in PowerDesk today view then 'Crossing out', 'Make tentative', 'Delete entry' commands will always ask what occurrences you want to change (Only this occurrence, All occurrences, This and future occurrences, This and past occurrences)
Before installing new version please deactivate PowerDesk autostart function, close PowerDesk (if running) and simply install newer version over the previous one if it was installed.

Good news! It seems a great app just got better. Nice to know they listen to their customers!
Has great potential but on my 9500 its damn slow - even v2.1
Also, haven't figured out how to set up the hot keys to start apps.
I am running the trial version at present - not yet convinced to buy for these 2 reasons.

You could try a reinstall. Turning off 'Show today summary' in the Desk view might also speed it up a bit. The only thing I find a bit slow is switching from Desk view to Today view.
Also, haven't figured out how to set up the hot keys to start apps.
Highlight the app you want to assign a Hotkey and press Ctrl+P.
How does PowerDesk compare with PowerDay? Has anyone here tried both of these packages?
Thanks,

I've tried both and it seems to me that PowerDesk "contains" the PowerDay application. All features of PowerDay is available in Today view of PowerDesk.

Show today summary is off. Done re-install as suggested. Switching from Desk view to Today view takes 57 seconds! I still call that "damn slow" not "a bit slow". I have ~the same settings as I did on Active Desk on 9210/i and didn't have this problem. I have a lot of task lists but no more than on the 9210.
I would disable the message and fax summaries that appear under the task listing if I knew how. That used to be an option on Active Desk.
Raven wrote:Highlight the app you want to assign a Hotkey and press Ctrl+P.
Thanks - got that now.
This app is nearly everything I had before between AppMan and Active Desk - the best apps I had on the 9210i. There seems to be a few aspects not quite right yet.
The display also looks odd for the Calendar side - I'm sure I remeber Acxtive Desk not needing a new line for each day/date thus fitting more entries into the view.
Tomahawk wrote:Show today summary is off. Done re-install as suggested. Switching from Desk view to Today view takes 57 seconds!
Whoa! 😮 That certainly is slow. Takes 2-3 seconds here, but I guess you have alot more entries than I do. Do you have 'Show completed tasks' and 'Show past tasks' set to 'Yes'?
Show completed tasks is off (deleted anyway when done).
Show undated & past are on - can't hide those - they are the ones that are overdue.
I had Active Desk set the same.
Time to write to Symbianware I think to see if they can fix for the next release.
How can I copy or create shortcut to the default folders that are on the default desktop of Nokia 9500 to PowerDesk desk view.
I could not figure out a way to do so.....Would I need to manually create each folder myself and then place the apps within them.....if this is the case then on installing new apps to the Nokia 9500, I would need to manually place the new installed app shortcut into the correct folder.
Can anyone suggest a solution
Regards

I wondered the same things. Ended up manually creating the new groups I wanted in PowerDesk and adding the apps manually. Also, I've found, when installing new apps, they only 'see' the folders from the native "Desk" application. You have to manually add the newly installed app to PowerDesk, too.

Yes, that's how it is (currently). I've contacted SymbianWare about an update to PD some time ago, but I never got a reply... So I have no idea what's going on over there. I just hope they are still working on improving this great app.
The part about manually adding apps isn't such a nuisance to me personally (gotten used to it), but there are still quite a few bugs and missing features I'd like to see fixed/implemented.
