Hi folks,
I've just taken my Nokia 6630 into a Nokia Care centre to have the firmware upgraded to the latest, whatever it may be. I've been having reception issues, where i shouldn't be!
I bought the phone from HK and i was told by Nokia Care in Australia that firmware upgrading the phone from that region maybe dangerous because the internal components would be different from other regions. How can that be true???
I thought all mobile phones were simply a piece of hardware, all made the same, and when tailored to a particular region, upload the phone with software tailored to a specific region, i.e upload software for China/HK. Why on earth would Nokia Care tell me that a Nokia 6630 would differ internally from a Nokia 6630 made for the Singaporean or Australia region? Aren't all phones essentially the same under the hood?
Can someone please clarify this for me?? I find it hard to believe that Nokia would create a phone with different components for a specific region. It wouldn't be cost effective! All i know is, my current firmware is v 3.45.111 RM 1 and has chinese characters, but of course i've changed it to English text and English characters. 😊
Cheers
