It died in peace in my wife's purse. When she opened her purse at high noon, she saw that the litte poor fellow had silently passed away. Resuscitation (checking contacts, changing battery, SIM and MMC) did not help anymore.
Any more sad stories? How big may and will be the returning percentage of these machines remains to be seen.
We have (had...) two 9300s. The other 9300 still lives, but until now it has already needed about 6-8 boots & 2 times battery removal during these 17 days we have had them.
Damn do you have some bad luck or what.
My other half did a classic killing of a 9210, she some how cracked and destroyed the PDA screen while the phone was closed and in her handbag. To this day we have no idea how she managed it.

I have the same symptoms from time to time with my 9290 Communicator. It just shuts down and won't come back, no matter how times I remove and replace the battery. The problem has always been resolved immediately when I apply the AC charging adapter and turn the phone on. It often happens just after a fresh charge.
Yes, I tried to apply the AC power 2-3 times, but it did not help. -- Btw the repairman told me that if the battery is really deeply depleted (which was not the case with my wife's phone), it may take even ten minutes to charge the phone before it begins to show signs of life again, and that's why he gets unnecessarily returns of phones which should have been only a few more minutes in the charger.
just read the first thread on this, an old trick to fix this one is to short the phone's battery contacts (Not the battery, the ones on the phone) with a metal object - a coin will do
this worked on all the prototype 92** I used when helping develop the 9210/i
That trick must be remembered and tried the next time!

Sounds peculiar. How come this works? Discharges the phone completely?

I have experienced the same several times, and indeed the charger made my 9210 "rise again".
yeah, it totally discharges the phone, on the first early 9300 prototypes i used to get a nice little spark!
