What do you guys think about organising a web chat at some point in the near future?
I know Rafe is thinking about doing one @ www.epocchat.com
I was also thinking of doing one @ http://my7650.emuforce.net
I could create rooms for 9210 and 7650 users or we could all be one big happy chat room, the site is mainly aimed @ the 7650/3650 user. But fear not 9210 users, you don't have to register to use the chat board. 😃

Best times/dates for people?
I was thinking along the lines of an evening chat sometime over the weekend.
Please tell me if you think this is a rubbish idea and i'm wasting my time :-?

This is a good idea. I used to like the old EpocChat when it was busy and Psion were still around, but it's a bit boring nowadays.
I'd say sometime on Sunday (you could be cheeky and mnake it the same time as EpocChat - there is very little crossover in terms of users) and lump everyone in together.
Yeah I agree. The other option is hosting a chat here on this site. Perhaps via a similar mechanism to the other - some kind of Java applet hosted elsehwere so that there not too much of a bandwith effect (chat I'm told is very bandwith intensive). It might be diplomatic to make the chat 1/2 hour before after epocchat?

Why not just use IRC? Pick a server, make #allaboutsymbian and bobs yer uncle.
I don't know enough about it to do that, plus I think it would be good to have some sort of java applet so people could access even if not familiar with IRC. Anyone know more about this?

Yes, the only true chat is IRC.
And it's all free, people could connect from every available OS and from the site with a java applet (no bandwidth needed).
I also had a php client to use on the webspace but I took it off the web until I get my copyright.
If you want a IRC channel, just give me the word. I can have a channel/eggdrop and java applet running for free in no time.
Go for it Dazler. We can arrange specific times, but I assume it be open all the time - correct?
Either send me the details or just tell me the URL - up to you. I can integrate it into the forum.

My php version is OFF line, misspelled that 😉
But a java applet will do the job just fine (php client needs to much bandwidth)
Any preference to which IRC server you want to use?
Dazler - don't mind which server, probably best to be guided by you in this. Also can you advise on the java applet?
