Nokia PC Suite autostart

Hi,

I did a search in the forums for a thread that brought up the "problem" I have but didn't find any good replys. Well, it aint that much of a real problem, it's just how I like it... Anyways, the thing I'm bugged about is that Nokia PC Suite program have this autostart function and trayicon that you can't remove.

So what I'm wondering about, does anyone know who to turn of the autostart and trayicon of Nokia PC Suite? I connect my phone like at the max two times a week so really don't need it to be as a process sucking up the little RAM I've got on my laptop.

Anyone have any solution?

Thanx in advance.

Okay, I found how to get the trayicon away from autostart, it was in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run", just delete the string and it won't start when booting up windows. I guess my problem is solved ^.^

PC Suite help says this:

Launch Nokia PC Sync automatically on startup

This option is selected by default, which means that Nokia PC Sync starts automatically every time you start your PC. You can unselect this option if you do not want the synchronisation to occur automatically on PC startup.

It doesn't have any advice about PC Suite though, only PC Synch.

The only solution other than yours is to use MS Config Editor. The default location in XP for this is: C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\msconfig.exe. It's not on the system tools menu by default.

The easiest way to stop it launching on startup is:

Click Start > Run, type msconfig in the box and press enter.

Click the Startup tab, and have a look for two items in the list.

One will be called "PCSuiteTrayApplication", and the other should be something along the lines of "Nokia Connection Monitor", I have long since removed them both on my machine so don't remember exactly.

Uncheck the boxes next to both of them, click OK. Upon restarting the PC, a box will pop up telling you that you've messed about with Msconfig. Just check the box and click OK to stop it from appearing again.

Hope that helps.
