Bar under ScreenSaver

Hi all, ive noticed on my 6630 there is a bar under the screensaver. Its a grey bar which the information such as profile is kepted. Im pretty sure that none of the other s60 phones that ive used had this or am i mistaken? Is there any way of removing the grey bar?

not totally remove but make transparent so on the screensaver you only see the coloured bar. Was the saver the same on other s60 devices or is this new for the 6630 its just i dont remember seeing this before 🙄

i know u can set as ssaver text, date and time, and Default
removing that bar, i don't know
i know in 2.29.15 there is bug, u don't see missed SMS
that will b fixed, i hope
u can try some third app, like power lock ( haven't tried personally )

I can understand why they have this transparent bar on the main panel cause if you have the same color on the background as the icons (like new sms, keylock etc.) then you wouldn't be able to see them. But I don't really know why they have this on the screensaver. I just got my 6630 so I haven't checked any other screensavers then the "date/time"-one but I guess it's the same reason as for the main panel. Although it doesn't bother me at all, never looks at the screensaver...

shoot just noticed the missing sms on my grey bar!!! hopefully the next firmware will be out soon.

any idea of this is the latest firmware in the UK? if not then i can go to carphonewarehouse and get the upgrade done

The latest firmware is v3.45.113, but good luck trying to find any Nokia service centres with the capability to flash the 6630 let alone with the latest flash files...

And if your phone is vodafone locked and branded, Nokia policy is that it must be unlocked prior to flashing, and even then they will only flash it with vodafone branded firmware.

This leaves you buggered from both sides:

At the moment there is no 3rd party unlock solution for the 6630, and vodafone have admitted they haven't even got the equipment to generate unlock codes for the 6630 yet, so even if you pay your 20 you'll have a wait ahead of you (along with constant bullshit promises of "it's coming in 24 hours", like so many other users on here have been fed with).

No vodafone branded 6630 firmware later than v2.xx exists. So until they release newer software, you're out of luck.

There's always the 3rd party independent phone shop route, but I've heard that the new ADL flashing method that the 6630 uses (over a USB cable) doesn't work with v3.45.111 or later firmware without an updated internal version of the Nokia Phoenix service software which hasn't leaked into the wild yet. And if flashing goes wrong, your phone is well and truly rodgered.

What a shambles eh!

thats pretty crazy! Luckly ive got an o2 handset which is unlocked, i might pop into carphonewarehouse on oxford street sometime next week and ask them if they can do the firmware upgrade.

There is no screensaver that comes on afterwards, unless you've installed a 3rd-party one, which I recommend you remove to save battery life. After all, you aren't going to be looking at the screen when it's in your pocket, are you?
