Hi,
Just got my 6620 and have a couple of questions.
First, how can I protect the camera lens, other than buying the Krussell case? I did a search and saw someone cut a piece of packing tape to cover the lens. Has anyone else tried this, or does anyone have any other suggestions?
Second, I want a USB cable but it's $45 from Nokia. They are on sale on Ebay for about $4. Has anyone tried the Ebay USB cables, and how do they work?
Thanks very much.
Although the 6600 doesn't allow a usb connenction (and some people have been conned by buying one off ebay), it seems the 6620 does but I will still excercise caution before using ebay for this, other websites may also offer them cheaper than Nokia and you will have some comeback if it doesn't work. But I would really suggest buying a bluetooth dongle for your PC, it will allow you a lot more flexability.
As for the covering the lens issue, any way of covering the lens will protect it, so if you can live with covering it with tape then go for it, just don't stick it to the actual lens because it will not be clean when you do want to take pictures. But do buy a case for your phone, there are many apart from Krusell available and they all cover the lens, they will also protect your screen from scratches (which is more common than the lens) I do use the Krusell case and it does fit well to the phone, and allow you to use the camera without taking the phone out of the case, it also allows many ways of carrying the phone if you get the different attachments.
Thanks for your reply. I have searched a couple of forums for recommendations as to what brand of dongle to buy. I found that people have had problems with the Belkin dongle, but have not seen which dongles work well. Can you make a recommendation?
Regarding the camera - I was wondering if any of the LCD screen protector sheets could be cut to cover the lens, and be left in place while taking pictures without affecting picture quality.
Speaking of picture quality, I think the 6620 takes great pictures, but do programs like photorite or photoacute significantly improve the quality?
Thanks very much.
I cant recommend a dongle myself as I bought one called 'wavelinker' a few years back now and haven't had any problems. But from what I can see from the posts here (a good search will bring them up) is that it is not necessarily the dongle that is the problem it is the combination of drivers and OS that is the problem, I ignored the drivers that came with the dongle and downloaded widcom, and stuck with them over a SP2 upgrade and had no problems.
As for the screen protector idea, my 6600 came with one already attached, in fact it still is, good luck in cutting one that small though 😊 . I still have my phone in a case though to stop all sorts of knocks and bangs, also a screen protector can only take so much in one hit.
